20 Years of Break-Neck Speed!
Sonic's 20th birthday is today! The famous blue blur's first game, Sonic the Hedgehog, was released on this day back in 1991. Since then, he's captured the hearts of millions of gamers around the world. True, he's been through rough times in recent years (Sonic Heroes & Sonic 2006), but with his new back-to-the-roots gameplay (Sonic Colors & Sonic Generations), he vows to get back on the fast track to super-stardom!

We only have one Sonic game on Abandonia thus far (Sonic CD), but it's widely regarded by fans as the greatest Sonic game ever made. As time goes by, we'll be adding more classic Sonic games to our ever-growing list of abandoned PC games.

So what are you waiting for? Catch the hedgehog and celebrate with him before he speeds outta here! Click through to find out what the hedgehog is up to right from his own mouth!

Haters gonna sue

The US Supreme Court has ruled in favor of the defendant in the case Brown vs. Entertainment Merchants Association. What does this mean? Uhhh dunn-noo! I wasn't paying close attention to the news, but smart people told me it means that the Supreme Court has said videogames are protected by the freedom of expression enshrined in the First Amendment of the US Constiturion, which protects any and all media, and so a recent California law (which this ruling just overruled) is unconstitutional and void.

This law reportedly attempted to place regulations on the sale of violent videogames. Please note that this news concerns the USA only. Surely there have been and will be similar initiatives elsewhere to censor videogames, and laws are different in different countries.

A Mighty and Magical Update!

Thanks to the efforts of Expack2 and Ermuli, the CD version of Lands of Lore - The Throne of Chaos has been made available right here on Abandonia! Now you can further revel in the vocal company of Patrick Steward, Richard Smith, Eric Gooch, and - I kid you not - Frank Klepacki as they enhance Westwood Studios' fantastic RPG with their unique and solid performances throughout the entirety of the game.

For those who prefer the original floppy version of the game: don't fret! The original floppy version has been kept, but you can now find it under the extras for Lands of Lore - The Throne of Chaos.

Now you can enjoy the voice talents of Gary W. The end of the world demands some AWESOME music...
Shao Khan has won. Queen Sindel has been revived, Earth is now part of the Outworld, and every human soul is now forced to serve Khan - except those protected by the mighty Rayden. Now, previous Mortal Kombat champion Liu Kang, special-forces operative Sonya Blade, and the rest of Rayden's rebels must face off in Mortal Kombat against Shao Khan, Queen Sindel, and their elite warriors to save Earth from eternal chaos.

Thanks to SpiDol, we now have the soundtrack to Mortal Kombat 3 right here on Abandonia! Now you can listen to the awesome techno and rock vibes of every arena in the game, plus a special Audio Tour track - the audio equivalent of several Mortal Kombat matches - and the intro music. Just boot up Abandonia Frequency and enjoy!

The Legend of Kyrandia 2 - Hand of Fate has been upgraded to its CD version thanks to the work of Expack2 and Ermuli! Now you can experience full voice-overs from the likes of Joe Kucan, Richard Smith, and Bonnie Lynn Toups throughout the entire game as you help Zanthia, youngest of the Kyrandian mystics, recover the magic anchorstone from the center of the world right here on Abandonia!

If you prefer the floppy version of the game, or if you just want to experience it for yourself, the floppy version of The Legend of Kyrandia 2 - Hand of Fate has been moved to the extras section for the game for your continued enjoyment.

Who do you fight for - Humans or Orcs?
Warcraft - Orcs and Humans, the game which started the Warcraft franchise - and already available here on Abandonia - has been upgraded to its CD version thanks to Expack2 and Mystvan! Now you can experience FMVs (Full-Motion Videos) throughout the game as well as narrated campaign briefings. In addition to all this, the game also comes with the Unit Editor for creating your very own Warcraft units to add into your armies!

For the continued enjoyment of all, the original floppy version of Warcraft - Orcs and Humans has been added to the game's extras section. Also, Abandonia's CD version of the game lacks the CD audio, so if you're a registered user (it's free to sign up!), you can go to the ISO Cellar and download the full CD version!

ScummVM 1.3.1 Released!

Dear Abandonians!

We are glad to announce that ScummVM 1.3.1 has been released!

The list of games supported is always bigger, in particular this release has many audio fixes.

The upgrade is higly recommended if you want to play Discworld, Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb, I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, or play FM-TOWNS SCUMM games on mobile devices or consoles.
