Now, I now what you're all here for, so let's not wait any longer! :)
It was a tough decision, but congratulations to Megkrichards! We will be contacting you via site private message and email to get your prize to you. Also, in a little twist of fate user Kalrak has won himself any $5.99 game of his choosing on GoG, because although his entry wasn't the most artful, it made me laugh on a particularly horrible Monday morning. Thank you once again for every single one of you who took part, we appreciated every single word you wrote :)
Dear Abandonians!
We are glad to announce that ScummVM 1.3.1 has been released!
The list of games supported is always bigger, in particular this release has many audio fixes.
The upgrade is higly recommended if you want to play Discworld, Inherit the Earth: Quest for the Orb, I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, or play FM-TOWNS SCUMM games on mobile devices or consoles.
You can find the last release on their official download page, don't forget to check the release notes ;)
Some of you may still remember the massive Abandonware site known as the Home of the Underdogs. A few of you may even recall it had a section devoted to the low-tech predecessors of interactive fiction games: the gamebooks.
After HotU disappeared from the net in 2009, some of its' fans attempted to recreate the site with its' reviews and downloads - and they did a good job, seeing how HOTUD.org and its sister sites turned out. However, the gamebook collection wasn't high priority for any of those projects and ended up missing from all of them.
Since sites that preserve classic gamebooks are few and far between, we have taken steps to make a copy of HOTU's collection available here on Abandonia, as well as fill in some of the missing volumes. The collection has been mostly online for last two years, but now it's officially complete and going public.
Thanks are due to: Sarinee (aka Underdogs) for creating this collection and scanning the books, Smiling Spectre for tracking down the scans after HOTU's end, and Arete together with TotalAnarchy for putting together the page on Abandonia.
