Battle Chess has been freeware all along. Who'd know?
Apparently, we didn't. So now it is available again.

Dear Abandonia visitors: We are a small team that runs one of the largest DOS Games websites in the world. We have only 3 members of staff, but serve 450,000 users and have outgoing costs like any other top site for example: our servers, power, rent, programs, and staff. Abandonia is something special. It is a library of old games for you to download. It is like an old gaming arcade with all the old games in their original format. Abandonia is a place where you can find great old games and have fun four hours and years. To protect our independence, we are dependent of our friends using the site. We run on donations averaging around 6 USD (5 Euro). If everyone reading this gave the price of a cup of coffee, our fundraiser would be made easier. If Abandonia is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online for another year. Please help us forget fundraising and get back to Abandonia.
After 2 long years of english exclusivity in updates we finally have the translations back and working. Studentis has fixed the bug preventing us to post translations in other languages and we can continue our efforts in making AB available for other cultures, without trying to forcefully assimilate them. A lot of hard work has been put into this site feature in the past (Abandonia being partially translated into over 20 languages), so don't try to underestimate its value.
For the polyglots visiting our site and willing to dedicate some of their free time to the project: you can apply for a translator position in the Recruitment Forums. Just don't forget - we're all volunteers.
Its time to return pack to the hot desert in the southernwestern USA. Nuclear War has happened, and billions of lives were destroyed. Those who survived now live in the ruins of the old world, trying to rebuild the humanity. Yet, wasteland is filled with dangers, like mutated animals and criminals. Thats where you, a soldier of the Desert Ranger, the beacon of hope in the humanity, comes in. Take your gun and go out there. People need your protection.....
And that was my intro to the Wasteland, the father of the Fallout-games. The game is now downloadable again.
It's a beautiful spring day as you prepare to tee off. You gaze down the fairway and notice every detail of your surroundings...the location of each tree...the contour of each hill and slope...the lie of the ball. A day at your favourite course? Not quite, but it's the next best thing.
Summertime is time for sports. That's why we bring Links 386 pro to your attention today. In case it's raining outside, take a trip to Castle Pines or Pebble Beach for a nice 18 hole golf tour.
Big thanks go to Death Incarnate for preparing the review and supplying the game, along with some extra courses!
Gangs are trashing the streets, beating people up and being big bullies like always. This doesnt sit well in Franko, who decides to settle this in old video game fashion: Beating them up. However, Franko isnt as sweet as the Dragon twins, so the streets will be painted in blood in todays game, Franko: The Crazy Revenge, courtesy of Bob-satan.
Mind you that the game is in polish, but you dont need the language to play that game.
Britannia is in danger again? No way! Time for some serious head-chopping and chest-stabbing loot raids into the Ultima underworlds. With the word VIRTUE stamped on your back keep your legs flying over the monsters' lifeless heads. Crawl through the dimly lit dungeons, kill hideous beasts, gather gold coins and bring back the peace.
Talking more seriously though, we've brought you a large set of boxshots and a couple of extras files for both Ultima Underworld - The Stygian Abyss |+_+| and Ultima Underworld II - Labyrinth of Worlds |+_+|, scanned by the one and only wizardofOz. So thank you and enjoy the eights.
The world-known paranormal investigator Dylan is back to face the ancient evil that's returning from the deep. You must find out who's behind the mysterious murder of the famous archaelogist and the latest dramatic events that took place on Earth. As you might've guessed, there's a little bit of "Cthulhu" involved, like his arm or leg, or maybe a head, or even his entire body. So keep an eye on everything suspicious, detective!
This is the second Dylan Dog game on Abandonia. All Dylan Dog games are based on the italian comic with the same title, by Tiziano Sclavi. Exclusive thanks go to Shadow_Stalker, who supplied the archive, review and screenshots. If you want to know more head over to the review, or even better - download the game.
So now they'll become available for sale, although Steam will have the exclusive. The full list:

That was the news, but on a related note, don't you ask for any of these games to be offered for download here, because that's not gonna happen as long as they're for sale.
The minute you step in you see an extraordinary sight: skycars buzzing fast above your head, an endless sea of people, from different countries, different continents, all gathered on one street and making haste toward their place of work... All so familiar, so real, yet so strange, almost like in a...
"Perry Simm... Perry Simm... P'ry Simm... PRISM. My name is Abraham Perelman. It's all true, I'm afraid. You are a computer, and your life was merely a simulation whose purpose was to instill you with intelligence and self-awareness. You are the first in a new breed - the thinking machine." Only one goal in your life, a life which you don't have. Your only reason to live is to observe ages passing, worlds collapsing and to prevent that from happening in another, alien world, where you can't go and you can't live.
The manual for A Mind Forever Voyaging becomes the 900th extras file and all credit goes to the contributor with a rebel soul, Saccade. You can now enjoy reading a document that probably has more words in it than the game itself, and we're talking about a text adventure here.
Lord British seeks to usher in a new era of peace and harmony for the lands of Britannia. To do so, evil must be vanquished not only in its physical manifestations but also in the hearts and minds of all the peoples of the realm. To do so, an Avatar - a shining example of virtue and heroism - is needed to show the way. This is your task.
Piggy and Geezer introduce us to Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar. Follow their footprints and battle various monsters on your quest to the ultimate challenge - the self. Many thanks go to both of them for bringing back another part of the fabulous Ultima Series.
From now on, Abandonia has its own YouTube channel! Expect lots of clips of game intros & gameplay clips to be added in the future. We'll also link to them straight from the game pages so be sure to check it out!
Incidentally, anyone willing to help us create clips for our channel is free to drop by on our forum to let us know!
