An action of creation which is equal parts art and invention. It's the craft of scanning video game boxes. You've been at it for hours, you know you placed the box carefully, did the appropriate settings for your scanner and used your picture editing program - but the boxshot still doesn't look right!
There's much to confuse you: How do I get the box between the glass platen and the lid, it's called flatbed after all? How many DPI do I scan? Why is the scan tilted even though the box still lies in the by myself well-defined right angle? Is there a non-arbitrary way to cut off the background? To which pixel dimensions do I resize? Which JPG quality grade do I choose? Is the outcome small enough in filesize?
Don't bother too much! Go ahead, warm up your computer, limber up your brain again - and scan like mad. Just as ultimaIX did for The Incredible Machine 2.
