Dear Abandonia visitors: We are a small team that runs one of the largest DOS Games websites in the world. We have only 3 members of staff, but serve 450,000 users and have outgoing costs like any other top site for example: our servers, power, rent, programs, and staff. Abandonia is something special. It is a library of old games for you to download. It is like an old gaming arcade with all the old games in their original format. Abandonia is a place where you can find great old games and have fun four hours and years. To protect our independence, we are dependent of our friends using the site. We run on donations averaging around 6 USD (5 Euro). If everyone reading this gave the price of a cup of coffee, our fundraiser would be made easier. If Abandonia is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online for another year. Please help us forget fundraising and get back to Abandonia.
Hind is a helicopter combat game with multiplayer support. You fly the MI-24 hind, a Russian made helicopter.
The game has very nice graphics and sound. An area of improvement in the sound field could be the Russian guide in the back of the helicopter. Hind can be as easy or a hard as you want to fly, due to the ability to change the difficulty level from arcade mode to Realistic. The enemy's can be quite hard though if you don't know what your doing, but hopefully you will learn from your mistakes.
Except for the "free flight" mode, this game has a great campaign as well. You get to fly and fight in countries such as Kazahstan, Korea and Afghanistan. There are quite a few mission types as well, such as the Troop evacuation and Troop insertion which are a lot of fun. If you are new to the game, make sure you go throught the training missions first. There are twenty training missions, which might seem like a lot, but you will almost certainly end up dead very quickly unless you study them all.
There is a wide arsenal of weapons at your disposal such as guns, rockets, bombs and... well, bigger bombs. Multi player mode is also very good with the ability to link up with Apache (another good helicopter combat game).
The good points are that the game is very realistic, fun to play, and it runs very well. The bad points are that, at times, it can be a little hard. Not reading the manual doesn't help either.
Enjoy the game.
You can find the keyboard commands in the extras box!
This is a windows game, but originally designed for Win9x. If you wish to get it started on WindowsXP, you need to right-click on the executable file and set the Compatibility mode to Windows 95!
