Red face Can't run the games

Hello everyone,

I've carefully followed this tutorial by TheFifthHorseman
http://www.abandonia.com/en/forum?ur...ad.php?t=14406

I've installed both DOSBox and Norton Commander.

The tutorial is good, but it ends without describing how I can mount the games!

So I tried with Japofran's tutorial:
http://www.abandonia.com/en/forum?ur...ad.php?t=14406

Trying to play the game 'Loom', I cut and copied the executables onto the DOSBox's shortcut, I dragged them onto it, but I can only get the following message in the DOSBox:

C:\>LOOM.EXE
Illegal command: LOOM.EXE.

So...WTF???

You didn't read the whole thing, obviously.
Mount command is described in 1.1: Stranger in the DOS land, and 1.2: [autoexec] FTW!!! K THX LOL!!! explains how to automate directory mounting so that you don't have to do it manually every time you run DOSBox.

OK, thank you, now it works...

Just a question: how can I take screenshots of games from DOSBox? the 'Stamp Rsist' key does not work, nor does Hypersnap... is there any program to help me?
Thank you very much for your help!

I think it was ctrl and F5, but correct me if I'm wrong... It'll go to the captures folder which is accessible from the start menu.

Yes, CTRL+F5 is the combination.

My guess is that after having followed Horseman's tutorial, you must have left the "mount c ..." instruction in the [autoexec] section of dosbox.conf, so when dosbox tried to mount the Loom folder with the same drive letter C, it failed.

Hello, thank you again for the info...

Just a couple of final question: where can i find the captures folder? I have a WinXP with a classic start bar.

Games' sounds do not work... how can I tweak the games in order to get them functional with a SoundBlaster?

Thanks again in advance!

Follow the link () in this quote, search for the quoted text and start reading from there:

You just need to run the configuration program. If you're not using the drag'n drop method, do it anyhow, from Norton Commander or the command line (once the drive is mounted and you're in the correct folder and all), it makes no difference.

BTW it doesn't matter what sound card you really have--as long as it works in Windows. The same options listed there will get sound in any Windows machine--if you haven't changed that part of dosbox.conf--, regardless of its sound hardware.

Program Files -> DOSBox -> Capture.

Run their accompanying setup utilities.
It might be more useful if you specified which games you're having problems with.
