I've got some good news! The version offered above works :brain: I put all my savegame in it, loaded the game, waited for the hippy to take me for the third and last ride and the game didn't crashed on 51!!

However, it asks for protection. I randomly clicked first and went to dos. However, in all boxes, 4 of them are thin and empty and one of them bigger than others got something scribed in it ( like "jay", "stuff", "*****" or anything like that ). Click on that box and you'll be able to continue this good game

Hurray, thanks to Sbob and Sebastianos!! k:

I think it's a safe bet to download the one on the forum. I can run it in DosBox and VDMS, both with sound. Not sure if VDMS will crash at times though. When I was playing one of the Lost Files of Sherlock Holmes games, playing in VDMS sometimes crashed my pc when I executed certain actions.

Ah I guess that's what happens when one isn't a computer whiz.

Hello anyone
I downloaded the game from the above link, but it does not look like a executable file, its name is lesman.7z and it does not run in DOSBox using that name. I tried changing the file extension from .7z to .exe but still no luck. Please advise - my sister has been stuck on this game for ages because of the error 51 which the forum says is a bug in the game, so I downloaded from the above link because a member later said this one works.

Please advise re how to run lesman.7z under DOSBox.

Many thanks Wendy

7z is a format much like Zip, Rar, etc so you need to unpack it.

Hello Paco

Thanks a huge stack for your info, I downloaded 7-zip and used it to unpack/unzip the lesman.7Z file from the link earlier in this forum. I tested it and the game played/started up okay under DOSBox. I then copied my sisters saved game into the same directory/folder. and played from that saved game under DOSBox and guess what, I got past the place where my sister's version of the game got a "51" error and crashed out.

So I sent her the saved game, and I am hoping it will work in her version of the game. (If not, I will tell her where to get the lesman.7z file in this Abandonia forum and where to download the 7-zip file from to unpack the lesman.7z file with.
Once again, I very much appreciate your help and for teaching me something new.
Best regards
Wendy

Sorry I wasn't checking up on this as much as I should. Great find sbob! If this one works flawlessly I'll replace the archive we have.

Thanks a bunch!!!

A shamless rip off of Sierra's Leisure Suit Larry and Sierra's SCI system. It still is a fun game though.

hi i just started the game and it absolutely fascinates me... because i never played an "keyboard" adventure / ( no "point and click" via mouse controls) - it took me a minute to figure out that you actually have to type out everything that you want to do - you feel more challenged and "into" the game this way, i think it is even more fun than a point and click cause you feel "interactive" with the game. i'm just starting but one thing is troublesome, since you cannot always make out what the graphics are supposed to be (which objects ...)

I have the original boxed game of LM:SFTK but suffered the same error 51 on taking the bus to The Kingdom even on an old DOS machine I have kept alive for such "antiques" so it has been left on a shelf gathering dust for years.

Having just discovered Dosbox & installed on a laptop, some on my older DOS unplayed/unfinished games are enjoying a new lease of life. I tried uploading the orig floppies into Dosbox but still hit the same error 51 after the bus sequence.

However by using the version on Abandonia & copying across my saved games, I've at last been able to continue past the crash location & enter the Kingdom to finish the game (but only if I continue to the end of the game on the abandonia version)

I have tried loading a saved game after the bus sequence back into the original floppy version in case such a save game may assist other players stuck at the samne point, but that just results in the same "51" error unfortunately.

Thanks very much DOSBOX & this site for allowing me to finally put this one to rest.
