Back in the days when you didn’t need eight thumbs to play a game which has more control keys then gameplay a simple yet very fun racing game called Space Racer was made.
There’s not really much to it. The game has CGA graphics, yet they’re very detailed, considering the age of the game. The biggest surprise (at least to me), however, was the great tune it plays at the start. I mean, for a PC speaker that’s very impressive and the game even has some speech in it (very little though). So you could say the game had very impressive graphics and sounds when it came out.
And the gameplay? Simple!
You’re a racer, riding a hover-bike. There are other racers that you need to beat. You should avoid collision, but in order to stay in front of the competition you can even shoot them. Mind the altitude of your bike, as it changes with speed (the faster you go, the more lift you get and the slower you are, the stronger the effect of gravity is).
So enjoy this little game that will certainly brighten up those half hour coffee brakes.
