The object of this game is simple. You’re a gamer by the name of Geekwad and are sucked into your computer. You stand before an aging king and he needs your help to keep the ancient art of quality computer gaming amusement alive. In order to succeed, you need to play various games and be as good at them as you can be.
The first thing that had me hooked was the humor. I loved reading the credits and the theft protection questions are a real riot! After that you stand before your king and he explains the situation to you. Next you get to choose a game to play.
There are 5 games to play.
Ping is a game of ping-pong. The only object is to bounce the ball back to the opponent’s side of the court. It does sound familiar, doesn’t it? You play with the use of a mouse.
Rambi vs. Blambo is a nice little game of forest animal slaughter. You aim at the living creatures and make them un-living ones to get points. This one is also played with the use of a mouse.
Big Guys With Muscles is a beat them up kind of a game. Your old elementary school teacher will explain to you just what you need to do and then you’re off to fight!
Steroids is a game where you need to go inside a body-builders head and keep the dangerous steroids from harming his body.
And the last game from the initial list is Road Kill. It’s a game where you need to kill certain stuff you find on the road, while leaving other things intact (read the driving manual for it).
All in all it’s a fun game and after every sub-game you should really go and talk to the king. You’ll notice some great changes in him :)
The game is graphically well supported; especially the cartoonish animations bring a lot of giggles to your face. The sounds are OK, but nothing special. The controls are simple enough and the game is purely and simply fun, although it does seem (because it is) just a mixture of great old games.
And it seems this game was so successful that Tsunami made a sequel about Geekwad and his gaming adventures, one we already host right here on Abandonia!
