Dear Abandonia visitors: We are a small team that runs one of the largest DOS Games websites in the world. We have only 3 members of staff, but serve 450,000 users and have outgoing costs like any other top site for example: our servers, power, rent, programs, and staff. Abandonia is something special. It is a library of old games for you to download. It is like an old gaming arcade with all the old games in their original format. Abandonia is a place where you can find great old games and have fun four hours and years. To protect our independence, we are dependent of our friends using the site. We run on donations averaging around 6 USD (5 Euro). If everyone reading this gave the price of a cup of coffee, our fundraiser would be made easier. If Abandonia is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online for another year. Please help us forget fundraising and get back to Abandonia.
The Fuzzbomb is on the loose!
That’s right baby, somewhere in the USA there’s a Fuzzbomb and only one person can stop it. It’s the ultimate good guy. It’s a hero so pure and, it gets to wear a white hat!
The game off course can be no other then the legendary Agent USA!
The plot is simple. You travel the US railroad network and try to take out the Fuzzbomb. It’s a strange thing that resembles a TV, only with fuzz instead of a normal picture. In order to defeat the Fuzzbomb you need to walk directly into it with a hundred crystals in your pocket (those are the only thing that can stop the fuzz).
It does sound easy, but believe me, it’s not!
The thing you start off with only 10 crystals and first you need to grow them. In order to do that you need to drop a crystal at the station and watch it grow. But look out for the infamous black hats. Those are regular citizens, who wish to get those crystals too, in order to protect themselves against the fuzz.
You also need to know that the fuzz is very contagious. If a citizen touches the Fuzzboms he becomes a fuzzbody. Further on, every citizen that touches a fuzzbody becomes one. So the fuzz is spreading fast!
If you have some crystals and are touched by a fuzzbody you’ll just loose a number of them. On the other hand, if you have no crystals, you’ll turn into a fuzzbody yourself. This doesn’t end the game though, because if you manage to collect one of the crystals, you’ll turn normal again.
But be careful, the Fuzzbomb is surrounded you fuzzbodies, so it’s really hard to get to it with 100 needed crystals, especially since that’s the upper limit of them. You can’t carry more the 100 crystals!
OK, now you know what needs to be done, so how can you do it?
You start off at a random city’s railway station. Every state capital has an info booth and if you enter it you’ll be able to locate the Fuzzbomb and see how the fuzz is spreading. Then you need to buy a train ticket and get as close to the Fuzzbomb as possible (while still being safe). If you see a * next to the city you wish to travel to, it simply means you’ll go by a fancy train that takes you there faster, instead of the old steam engine. But such fast connections are possible only between large cities.
The tickets are free, so you needn’t worry about running out of money.
You can shove the black hats away from the crystals, or even shove them on a train (if you clear the station it will be easier to grow crystals).
Now you know all there is to know, so good luck to you, you’ll need it.
And as if the game wasn’t difficult enough, you can start an advanced game, where fuzz spreads faster and the game is even harder to play.
All in all you get to learn about the US cities in this game (at least most of those that have a railroad track running through them), while having a lot of frustrating fun. The game is simply too difficult completely enjoy it. Still the sounds are quite good, but the graphics are eye burning CGA graphics. Still get the job done though. But can you? Can you stop the fuzz?
