Dear Abandonia visitors: We are a small team that runs one of the largest DOS Games websites in the world. We have only 3 members of staff, but serve 450,000 users and have outgoing costs like any other top site for example: our servers, power, rent, programs, and staff. Abandonia is something special. It is a library of old games for you to download. It is like an old gaming arcade with all the old games in their original format. Abandonia is a place where you can find great old games and have fun four hours and years. To protect our independence, we are dependent of our friends using the site. We run on donations averaging around 6 USD (5 Euro). If everyone reading this gave the price of a cup of coffee, our fundraiser would be made easier. If Abandonia is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online for another year. Please help us forget fundraising and get back to Abandonia.
Deluxe Trivia Pursuit is exactly what the name implies; a computerized version of the classic board game. Allowing up to six people to participate at a time, this game is best played with as many friends as you can, as maybe then you will be so busy enjoying the social interaction that you can overlook the many annoyances this game has to offer!
At first glance the game is nicely done, with decent VGA graphics for the time, a variety of questions and options, and music that is good enough to serve as background noise, as one would expect of Trivia Pursuit. However, the execution is needlessly drawn out for a game that by its very nature is already a drawn out affair.
For example, rolling the die is animated, but there is no option or keystroke (that I could find) that bypasses the shaking cup and slow rolling die. Likewise, before a question is asked of the player, a slow walking bird plods across an otherwise nice, categorically themed room (i.e. a music room for questions on music), only to display the question one letter at a time at much too slow a pace.
If you love Trivia Pursuit and you have a pack of friends who can have fun together regardless of what they are doing, then this game could be a fun outing, otherwise I would consider downloading one of Abandonia’s other great games instead.
