Dear Abandonia visitors: We are a small team that runs one of the largest DOS Games websites in the world. We have only 3 members of staff, but serve 450,000 users and have outgoing costs like any other top site for example: our servers, power, rent, programs, and staff. Abandonia is something special. It is a library of old games for you to download. It is like an old gaming arcade with all the old games in their original format. Abandonia is a place where you can find great old games and have fun four hours and years. To protect our independence, we are dependent of our friends using the site. We run on donations averaging around 6 USD (5 Euro). If everyone reading this gave the price of a cup of coffee, our fundraiser would be made easier. If Abandonia is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online for another year. Please help us forget fundraising and get back to Abandonia.
Golf is a prestige sport. It requires skills, patience, practice, a full wallet, etc. Fortunately you don't need a full wallet to play this computerized version.
World Class Leader Board is one of my favorite golf games (in fact it’s the only computerized golf game I really enjoyed). You can play by yourself, or invite up to three friends to join you. There are also three difficulty levels you can choose from. The easiest one simply requires you to aim and shoot (you only need to take care of the power you put in the shot). But if you set it more difficult then the wind conditions and the ‘snap’ will also affect the game.
The game features nature sounds, so you’ll really have a feeling you’re out on a peaceful field (so don’t start swearing if you miss, that will spoil the tranquility). The graphics are also very nice and make me (and hopefully will also make you) fell in touch with nature.
The controls are simple. You select the club by pressing up/down. You move the pointer left/right to aim. Finally you use space and release it, when the gauge shows the approximate strength you think needed for the shot. Depending on the level you also need to press space in order to get the wanted amount of ‘snap’. There’s also the voice of the commentator, who may make some remarks upon your shot.
When you’re close enough to the hole you can’t select the club anymore (you’re using a putter anyway). Here the gauge will change also, simply showing the amount of strength (remember – each nudge is equivalent to 10 feet of distance). If you get a close miss you’ll hear the crowd sympathizing with you, and if you don’t miss you’ll be applauded.
After every hole you’ll see the leader board, showing the standings. Weather alone, or playing against friends, you’ll really want to achieve the best possible score. This game is highly recommended to all the people that simply need to relax and forget about the stress in their everyday life. Enjoy it.
