Dear Abandonia visitors: We are a small team that runs one of the largest DOS Games websites in the world. We have only 3 members of staff, but serve 450,000 users and have outgoing costs like any other top site for example: our servers, power, rent, programs, and staff. Abandonia is something special. It is a library of old games for you to download. It is like an old gaming arcade with all the old games in their original format. Abandonia is a place where you can find great old games and have fun four hours and years. To protect our independence, we are dependent of our friends using the site. We run on donations averaging around 6 USD (5 Euro). If everyone reading this gave the price of a cup of coffee, our fundraiser would be made easier. If Abandonia is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online for another year. Please help us forget fundraising and get back to Abandonia.

When Abandonia was founded it was to collect and present all old games where the copyright protection had been abandoned, hence the term ’abandonware’ and the site name Abandonia.com. We are still doing our best to keep the site open and free and will appreciate your support to help it stay that way.

‐ Thank you from the Abandonia Team

We are trying to make it easy for people in every country to donate. Please let us know how we could make it easier for you.

Please give whatever you can to help us.

You wake up in a bathroom stall in a Chicago bar, and you might be thinking 'it's going to be a long weekend...' until you notice that you have a needle mark in your arm, and the gun in your pocket has three rounds in it. You then discover that the other three bullets are in the man upstairs in the office. Did you kill him? You don’t remember… in fact you don’t remember anything.

Welcome to Déjà Vu, a game where the cops want you alive, everyone else seems to want you dead, and you want to know what’s going on. In ICOM’s interactive adventure-mystery game you will explore the city of Chicago, from a seedy bar to a mansion on a hill, trying to find your identity and stay alive. You don’t know what’s going on, but you know that something’s fishy – so be careful.

Déjà Vu uses a cursor- and mouse- based system and several windows that manage your inventory, the scene, directions, text, and the eight basic commands. They are fairly simple to use, though smaller items can be harder to click on than others. It’s also easy for windows to clutter up the screen.

Your character is armed with his gun and his fists as he travels through the city, but you have to use caution when firing your gun as the police are looking for you. You need to find items to guide you along your way, since your memory is lost. You will also need to find some money to use the taxi cabs.

The sound effects that do exist in this game are nothing to write home about. You usually only hear explosions, punches, and sirens, and none of them are too helpful to you. This is a game you can play with the volume off without missing anything important.

The graphics are not overwhelming, but serve their purpose. The detail serves to help you know what items are, but you will still need to read descriptions to understand what some things are and do. Déjà Vu has a distinct lack of color compared to newer games, which is why it only gets an average rating.

For challenge, Déjà Vu steps up to the plate; saving early and often and in several files is recommended as many missteps can either kill you or get you arrested, giving your game an abrupt and often violent end. Déjà Vu does have a kind of time limit to it, because your memory is fading fast from whatever it is they injected in your arm. If you don’t find the cure soon, you will eventually die an agonizing death. Besides finding the antidote, you must also gather evidence against the people who framed you, and destroy the evidence that they planted against you. Only you can clear your good name… if you can remember what it is.
