Dear Abandonia visitors: We are a small team that runs one of the largest DOS Games websites in the world. We have only 3 members of staff, but serve 450,000 users and have outgoing costs like any other top site for example: our servers, power, rent, programs, and staff. Abandonia is something special. It is a library of old games for you to download. It is like an old gaming arcade with all the old games in their original format. Abandonia is a place where you can find great old games and have fun four hours and years. To protect our independence, we are dependent of our friends using the site. We run on donations averaging around 6 USD (5 Euro). If everyone reading this gave the price of a cup of coffee, our fundraiser would be made easier. If Abandonia is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online for another year. Please help us forget fundraising and get back to Abandonia.

When Abandonia was founded it was to collect and present all old games where the copyright protection had been abandoned, hence the term ’abandonware’ and the site name Abandonia.com. We are still doing our best to keep the site open and free and will appreciate your support to help it stay that way.

‐ Thank you from the Abandonia Team

We are trying to make it easy for people in every country to donate. Please let us know how we could make it easier for you.

Please give whatever you can to help us.

Peel off ye olde shrink wrap, open up ye olde box and prepare for ye olde adventure! Conquests of Camelot gives you the opportunity to live the Arthurian legend and save Camelot from certain destruction.

If you want a King Arthur game wherein you slay dragons and defend kingdoms from evil black knights, then don't come here. This game deals with King Arthur's search for the Holy Grail, so you're never too far away from a preachy religious reference. This was the first game in the Conquests series and was a little more complicated than Sierra's other adventures. For starters, the dialogue was in Ye Olde Englishe, and the game required some rudimentary knowledge of the crusades and the legend of King Arthur in order to finish it. Conquests of Camelot tried to be free-form by breaking the story into three individual quests, and letting you pick the order in which you would do them. But, as you'll find out rather soon, you really only get to choose between two.

The arcade scenes in the game were difficult at best and on later systems they may prove to be the stuff of nightmares. The game is in the early point-and-click stages, but the parser interface is easy enough to use. The only real gripe I have about Conquests of Camelot is the preachy and judgemental overtones later in the game.

You will need the manual to finish this game - and probably a walkthrough as well; this game is tough. All the religious babble in the game makes it difficult to understand exactly what the puzzles require.

If you're a collector or love the era, grab this game; otherwise you may be just a little disappointed.
