Dear Abandonia visitors: We are a small team that runs one of the largest DOS Games websites in the world. We have only 3 members of staff, but serve 450,000 users and have outgoing costs like any other top site for example: our servers, power, rent, programs, and staff. Abandonia is something special. It is a library of old games for you to download. It is like an old gaming arcade with all the old games in their original format. Abandonia is a place where you can find great old games and have fun four hours and years. To protect our independence, we are dependent of our friends using the site. We run on donations averaging around 6 USD (5 Euro). If everyone reading this gave the price of a cup of coffee, our fundraiser would be made easier. If Abandonia is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online for another year. Please help us forget fundraising and get back to Abandonia.

When Abandonia was founded it was to collect and present all old games where the copyright protection had been abandoned, hence the term ’abandonware’ and the site name Abandonia.com. We are still doing our best to keep the site open and free and will appreciate your support to help it stay that way.

‐ Thank you from the Abandonia Team

We are trying to make it easy for people in every country to donate. Please let us know how we could make it easier for you.

Please give whatever you can to help us.

Made in 1991, by Microids , this game doesn't represent anything special, but if you still want to find out something about the game - then read on.

Before you start playing, you can choose between cga, ega and vga graphics. Unless you want to destroy your eyes choose ega or vga, or start the game from the gpv.exe file. After that you can choose to play with sound. (I was not able to get the sound working in dosbox). If you have a SB soundcard, use it. Others should try to avoid sound unless they want to hear the annoying pc speakers. Now you come to the menu which is boringly colored. Here you can choose the AI level, number of players, the control device - keyboard or joystick (which I wasn't able to run). Unfortunately the controls are predefined so you can't change them.

After you've decided you can choose between four bikes, and the only difference between them is color. You can choose between 12 different tracks in the game, some of them are well known (like Suzuka, Silverstone). There are three play modes supported in the game - training, race and championship. The graphics in the game are OK, but it becomes repetitive - so does the game, which has a lot of bugs. So it can happen that your opponents float in the air, or pass through each other etc. One of the bigger stupidities of the game is that you can't see the number of laps that you've passed. If you play alone the game is too easy. Even on the hardest difficulty I left my opponents by half a lap, and believe me I'm no Michael Schumacher. The good thing in the game is the ability to play with another human (splitscreen), and compatibility with WinXP.

Overall this is one of those games that are fun - for 20 minutes, and then it becomes dull. If you don't have anything better to do and you have a friend near you, download the game. If not, you should avoid it, there are better things to play.
