Dear Abandonia visitors: We are a small team that runs one of the largest DOS Games websites in the world. We have only 3 members of staff, but serve 450,000 users and have outgoing costs like any other top site for example: our servers, power, rent, programs, and staff. Abandonia is something special. It is a library of old games for you to download. It is like an old gaming arcade with all the old games in their original format. Abandonia is a place where you can find great old games and have fun four hours and years. To protect our independence, we are dependent of our friends using the site. We run on donations averaging around 6 USD (5 Euro). If everyone reading this gave the price of a cup of coffee, our fundraiser would be made easier. If Abandonia is useful to you, take one minute to keep it online for another year. Please help us forget fundraising and get back to Abandonia.
Bouncing Babies is a game where the main aim is to try and save babies that are jumping out of a burning building. To do this you control two fire fighters (with the number keys: 1 = left, 2 = middle, 3 = right, or the arrow keys) that have some sort of trampoline, which they use to bounce babies into an ambulance.
There are many elements at work to make you want to give up, such as the music that plays when a baby bounces (it's like the siren of an ambulance), or the challenging gameplay. The graphics may look bad/dated, but don't be fooled by that! This game will test your reflexes as it's extremely challenging, and even getting past level 3 is a massive accomplishment.
Even though the game is very annoying at times (well most of the time), it's very addictive. I'm going to give it a 3.5 out of 5 since I keep coming back to it (mainly because I'm trying to beat my own high score), and each time, I play it for around an hour.
If you run the game through bbabies.exe, you need to decrease the cycles to 200-300 to at least have a chance. You don't need to change the default cycles if you run it through bbabiesp.com. The latter is recommended.
There are two executable files in the folder. BBabies.exe is the original exe, which is unplayable, unless you start it with DOSBox. BBabiesp.com is a patched executable, which makes the speed the same as on the original DOS systems (you can find more info on it in the txt file from the archive). It's recommended to use the second. The game can be played in all environments, from pure XP to DOSBox and VDMSound. Although, the only way to get rid of the annoying PC Speaker sounds is to use DOSBox. Have fun!
