Hey, Data. :bye: Once you get into the game, it is a lot of fun and has some very pretty visuals. It's a different sort of game which is refreshing.

Btw, very cool avatar you're wearing lately

Hahah, I'm not sure why but when I was in second or third grade my school made everyone play this game in computer class. I remember we spent three weeks playing this game in computer class and I was the first person done! It's a lot of fun =P

Holly, I'm assuming that you're running Windows XP?
In the tech notes for the game on another site, I found this tip:

A slowdown utility *must* be used to run the game-- otherwise you will get a faulty "888.pal not found" error

This could be your problem. I played Ecoquest using pure Dos (as I've Windows 98) and didn't have any problems or need for a slowdown utility. I did a google search and came up with a program called Mo So. I'm not sure how it works as I've never needed to use such a program. You might like to give it a go. Here's the link to the download page: (it's a free program)

Good luck!

Holly, I imagine in the download there will be a readme type of file which will give instructions for the program's use. The site you're downloading it from might have some tips as well as this is the maker's official site.

Other than that I can't be more specific as I've never used these sorts of programs.

Give it a go and if you have problems, post to the Troubleshooting forum where someone a bit more knowledgeable than I can help.
