I downloaded a small game from another aw site and immediately after I closed it down (after installing and setting up) I noticed streaks across the screen every time I moved the mouse or there was any movement on the screen. Also, just as a test, I tried playing a game I'd been playing earlier, but the graphics now appeared hopelessly fragmented. Before I opened any of the files from this d/l game folder, I did run a virus check, but it came out ok. Still, for this problem to occur as soon as I closed the game seems too much of a coincidence.

Does anyone have a clue what might have caused the prob? I've got an older computer but with a new monitor.

I can think only of 2 things there:
1. Reboot your PC and see if anything is ok again
2. Could be that your graphics-card is old and broken down - same thing happened to my previous card, there was image, but not seeable one and WindXP didn't start anymore (stopped at loading).
If the first step doesn't help, start Windows in that troubleshooting-mode (don't recall the real name now) and see if the screen is ok there. If it is, there's some configuration problem with the card in Windows OR a kind of virus from the site that isn't any - a program that just messes the PC up and isn't a virus.

FreeFreddy you're a genius k: I'd actually rebooted before I read your reply to see if that might help. And it did. :w00t: The problem must have been caused by games files that hadn't closed properly and were causing some kind of interference.

Thanks for those suggestions *handing out a flower*

EDIT: Sorry, Data, I missed your post. Yes, you're right...thank you. A reboot was what was need. *handing out another flower*
