Default Upload Procedure!

Many abandonians have asked us how they can upload their games to the site. We would like to thank each and every one of these people, members and guests alike. Without your offers, helps and requests this site would not have existed. You guys are the best!

So, we have desided to make a topic detailing how a new update arrives on the site, from the early stages to the very last finishing touches. 8)

1. Stage
The game must be cleaned of every savegame or old config file etc. that already are stored in the game memory.

2. Stage
The archive is then packed into a .zip format and uploaded to the Abandonia FTP server.

3. Stage
While the archive is being uploaded, a frantic search finds place on the net where we try to locate all the extras that are needed for the game. Be it a manual, a map, a walkthrough, some codes, a crack... and so on. To make sure that the game have all its associated files, when it is downloaded.

4. Stage
Now we zip all the extras and of course we have to playtest them with the game.

5. Stage
When the extras are done, we start taking screenshots from the game (minimum is 4 pictures). These will then be resized and optimized for maximum performance and beauty. BUT we need to watch the size for these pictures. So getting them right is a job in itself.

6. Stage
Time for the review. Everyone can jot down a few lines about a game, so we try to advance past this... making each review carefully tailored to the game in question. A good review needs to be informative, fun and interesting to read AND above all... TRUE! If there is a problem with the game, it WILL be mentioned in the review, or if there is some special information you need during the game... this will also be pointed out in the review. Also the review includes the full name of the game, who made it and when, and options for Multiplayer and so on. In many aspects the review is the most important thing we do when placing a game on the site.

7. Stage
Now that the screenshots are stored on the harddisk along with the review, and the archives are on the server. It is time to move the game over to the seperate game server. This can ONLY be done by Kosta, as he is the only one with the access to that server.

8. Stage
After the game is secure on the second server, it is time to place the game on the site (Admins only) by updating the screenshots and review and linking them to the game. This is also where we detail the compatibility of each game. After submitting all this info the game is on the site in the corret genre.

9. Stage
After all that the news is made, linking the news picture with the game. And of course we also say a few select words about the new update.

10. Stage
The new topic has to be made in the Games Forum. Again this has to be done by Kosta. After this is made, the game is up... and we start all over with a new update 8)

So...
You see there is a lot of work behind EVERY update on the site. That is why we would really appreciate if you would help us by doing as much as you can yourselves... like writing the review and taking screenshots. Maybe even supply us with some extras for the game.
We have grown a lot this past few weeks, and keeping up is proving to be difficult. So, the more you do... the more games will appear on the site.

You will of course be credited with a game you have supplied to the site. The more you do, the bigger the glory.
Maybe even a V.I.P. Pass

I hope you are not intimidated by how much work goes into a single update, remember we share the work.

Anyways... Thanks for your wish to aid this site.

As long as you wipe the ads (like a file saying "This game's downloaded from http://www.nunchackus.com") away, it's fine. We can't trace if it's original or from somewhere else, anyways. Game just has to be fun k:
