![]() This might be covered somewhere else, but i'm feeling lazy heh. Ok, say I use daemon tools to mount an ISO thats say....the new drive is called the F: drive..and I mount and install the game just fine from the F: drive. How do I get that newly installed game to read the "CD" from the F: drive and stop asking me to please put the CD in the D: drive? (which I obviously can't do). I don't have a burner btw/

![]() let's presume we have a photo-cd here...
hard to say... have you checked all copy protection emulations? this may be a cause. some newer programs may even recognize the deamon tools and prevent it from emulating the cd-drive. it is always better to make a good "hardcopy". |

![]() Never had that problem, although i did put myself that question before installing the program.I think while daemon tools is active, the main cd rom drive letter(the one for the real cd rom) is downgraded in the hierarchy, so that a game looks first in the virtual drive, and then looks for the cd in the real drive.Don't know if i'm right though, but it should be this way. This way or the real cd drive is disabled altogether when an iso is loaded with daemon tools
EDIT: As i understand it, you do not have any problems, you just wish to know how it works, right? |

![]() Could somebody explain how this program works.I was always interested to know this.I know it emulates a drive, but how, for example does it make the game read from the virtual drive, rather from the real drive?

![]() Well. what it is is...when you install a game, and try and run it without a CD in it says "Please put the disc in drive D:. Click "Ok" or "Cancel" or "retry". You know, stuff like that. the ISO I have (it's abandonware btw, but ah, an embarrassing title LOL) is on the F: drive. (I only have A, C, D, ane E drives, the F drive is virtual" and when I run the game it says please put the cd in drive D: I have other games that do this too. My D: drive is loud and buzzy, but my E drive is almost silent, (thats why I have 2 CD-ROM drives, one for music, one for games at the same time) so I like running games off my E: drive, but some games (including this one) tell me to have it in drive D:. Is there a way to make a game "see" the CD-ROM drives other than just D:?
