![]() Hi,
I have Win XP Pro and when I'm playing S2G the game always crashes after something like 10 mins of playing. I thought it had something to do with the autosavefunction or something but that isn't turned on so can't be the problem. I tried with dosbox but it's slower than a snail on valium. Anybody have a clue to what the problem could be? Would be very much appreciated. |

![]() Well like I said it crashes very quickly here and it sucks because I love the settlers games.
S2G holds a lot of memories for me as well as I remember playing it on my uncle's crappy pc when I was a kid. Does anybody have a clue about this because I really want to play this game and enjoy it to the fullest. It's not just the game that crashes by the way but the mouse gets blocked and everything just stops. |

![]() Try it in DosBox again, you can increase the speed there with ctrl+F12 and decrease it with ctrl+F11. If you PC is at least P4 with 1800-2000 MHZ you should be able to increase the gaming speed so it runs normally or even too fast then.

![]() Did the dosbox thing and even with the cpu cycles up to 100000+ it sucks and the music is crap.
*getting desperate* |

![]() If you set the cpu cycles too high like 100000 (WOW), the emulation will become as result even much slower than it would be on, say, 4000 cycles, unless you have Pentium 6 with 10 Ghz, of course. For most of my games 11500-12000 cycles are fast enough or even too fast for some (Pentium 4 with 2.4 Ghz).
As for music, for some of the games the sound- / music-emulation that DosBox provides is not working well if at all, try VDMsound in that case, just install it and forget it, no need to configure anything after you did that during the installation. You can get it here: http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?t=1226 |

![]() I have this problem. And was wondering if a solution was ever found. I have a 450 Mhz cpu. I tried it with Dos box, with no improvement, and I don't care about sound or music.
Thanks for any help. |
