furrykef - Life & Death II with better sound
The version of the game on the site is configured for SoundBlaster or AdLib sound. Unfortunately, sound with these settings is incredibly garbled on DosBox (0.74 and probably all earlier versions). There is no way to reconfigure it without reinstalling the game, but installation disk images are not provided. I have a copy that is configured for PC Speaker, so sound will work properly.
Since the game uses RealSound, the PC Speaker audio is actually quite good -- speech sounds like speech, etc. The only thing that sounds like bleeps and bloops at all is the music at the start of the game. |
