![]() Having recently stumbled upon a pretty decent looking Lands Of Lore 2: Guardians of Destiny 4-CD box in my father-in-laws huge piles of packrat crap, I tried to install it, but of course it will not run on Windows Vista.
Anyone know a quick and easy way to work around this issue? Also, if Abandonia is interested I certainly wouldn't mind sharing my game, I'm just not sure of the technicalities or legalities involved in it |

![]() Doing a quick search tells me that LoL2 is game which can be run in DOS or in Windows. If you have the DOS version then you can use DOSBox to run it on your computer.
If you take the time to learn how DOSBox works, you should be able to use the mount command to mount the CDrom and use the CDs just like in the old days. |

![]() Lands of Lore 2 runs fine in dosbox 0.73.
Dosbox basics and Vista:: http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/showthread.php?t=19982 Also mount your CD drive with: mount d x:\ -t cdrom Replace the X:\ by your real CD drive letter under Windows. Install the game from D; on C: in dosbox When asked change the CD in the drive and hit CTRL+F4 to refresh the cache in dosbox. You can also use CD images (BIN/CUE) in stead of the real CDs -(works much better)- and mount them all in a row, CD change is done also by CTRL+F4 Your mount line then should be something as: imgmount d x:\path\cd1.cue x:\path\cd2.cue x:\path\cd3.cue x:\path\cd4.cue -t iso [Edit]

![]() I would add the you will have to change the standard setting for free space on the mounted drive, because the install is about 250 Mb, so it's more then DOSBox normally allocates. And although there is a D3D patch out there for LoL 2, it's still a pain in the butt to run it in any Windows, so stick with the dos version

![]() Can somebody help check the abandonware status on Lands of Lore II Turing is offering to share? It will be a nice addition to the ISO Cellar
The Oldwarez list says it is sold, but that list has not been updated for a long time, has it? |
