Hello. If the bandwidth of your website is being stolen by mosw.com, please involve in this thread.
It's not okay that he's ruining some of the best abandonware sites out there with his tricks. There is a simple technical ways to stop him: The Mosw.com Downloader Software depends on a list of URLs to the game files on your server. The Surfer's IP is used to send the download request to your website, along with your domain as referrer. There is a simple way to stop this guy increasing your bandwidth bill: Your game files are acessible only via dynamic URLs. These URLs turn into a 404 after they have been used one time to download a file. Without the possibility to tell his downloader software a fixed URL for each game, it's useless in the way it was built. The dynamic URL system is easy to implement, not much to change on your website and server. If somebody is interested in solving the problem this way, leave a comment and I will post a manual and code example on how to use the system on any website. BigDaddy |

There's already a topic about this here
The problem is he's not only stealing bandwith but also reviews and accessories.

About the reviews I can't help, that's another topic.
But if you want to make him stop earning money from what he does, you can block his downloads. The surfers will complain at Paypal and any other payment processor if they get charged for something they can't download. That's an army of free helpers against him. |

This is really interesting if it is as you say. Are the admins interested?

I'm NOT going to pay for anything if there is a free download option available

1. this guy does not download anything at abandonia, he only redirects to the files stored at abandonia 2. we allready discussed that in the thread Tulac referred above. If you know a lot (and hopefully more than I do) about TCP/IP and all the other technical stuff, and if you have any idea, how to figure out where a redirection is coming from and by this detecting if it is a "stolen link" or a normal customer, you would make everybody's day. k: Curious question to the admins: is it possible to merge the two threads? |

If I understood right, the thing wouldn't be identifying where the download request comes from, but rather making the file's URL change randomly so that only Ab itself knows it and nobody else can link to it, and if somebody figures it out again his URL will be out of date after one download? The leeching links to Ab wouldn't be blocked but would show only a 404 "page not found" error.
