![]() Hey guys, I see that some of you have problems running Ultima VII 2 and I want to help. The best way to play it in NT based systems is Exult but, for old time lovers, there's VMware virtual machine. Problems with sound can be solved with modern drivers for DOS 6.2 (driverguide.com is a good place to start looking, it did it for me) but through www.bootdisk.com can be reached very good links with info of MS-DOS, including USB drivers and more.
Enjoy the best saga ever made! Shyrion Dragon |

![]() When you are configuring the game for the first time using VDMSound, you'll have a window that says something like "to do: add more stuff here" and a button that says "Advanced" (or sth like that) in bottom right of it. Click the button and then look around the settings screen it opens. There will be memory settings there.

![]() I'm delighted to find this game after so many years.
I had to abandon playing it when my teacher found out that you could (shock horror) have 'relationships' in the game. Got caned for it, and he erased my disks. Labelling it as obscene seemed a bit of an overreaction to me, and was very annoying given how much I'd spent on it. |

![]() @baswitzer: read carefully.
It doesnt tell you that you neet more expandet memory - it does tell you that you need to shut don the expanded memory. U7 1/2 dont run while expanded memory mamager is working. theyre incompatible. So what you do is , you use Dosbox, or exult, both already mentionened in ths thread. I dont know about exult, for not having used it, but i had no problem running U7 on dosbox together eith the Dosbox-frontend Defend you shoud be easyly able to manage then, just install dosbox and Defend, correlate Defend to the dosbox location (it will ask you, dont worry), and the setup a Dosbox profile for U7, in which yiu can easily deactivate EMS and XMS) But, towards another problem: I had u7 running in dosbox without any problems half a year earlier. I had used a Ultima7complete CD then, which was borrowed. Well, computer go boom, Disc got geturned, now I was happy to see, that it was finally available here (how do these things happen anyway ? Esa suddenly tells "Oh, its no longer protected, guys!" ?) But after downloading, dezipping and activating a dosbox account, in DOSbox I get the message "Illegal Command SI.exe" respectively the name of the install exe. Same thing with Black gate. What is up? Am I the only one getting this prob? Archive or files crappy? I`m out of my depth here, so please help. |
