I've done enough research on Japanese swords to know the difference 'bout katanas and tos. I can give you some of my research resources if you don't believe me, but yours's based on only two swords they've slapped a name on, which's barely accurate information.

It's two against one, Quin. History will always win over crap in a fencing store.

Thanks for such information. Respect!* k:
No problem, my pleasure.

I also recommend constructing a practice dummy that you can do practice pell work on after you learn basic throws, so you can feel the jar of actual contact, and learn combination throws...

They're pretty easy to make, surprisingly... you can take a 5 gallon bucket and set a sturdy pole in it with quick drying cement, and either bury it, or just leave it above ground, then secure several layers of thick cloth around the pole to absorb some of the impact.

I wish I could show you the different basic movements, but it's sort of difficult online <_<

I will mention that Tiki is correct about stances. The best stance is one that you can move while remaining balanced, generally with feet shoulder width apart, one foot slightly ahead of the other, with knees slightly bent.

Also, most of the force of the throw should come from the hip, not the arm
... which is why women can be deceptively good at heavy fighting

If you try putting all the force into your arm, you'll get tired faster and your throws will become weaker and weaker.

Okay, I've babbled long enough

Not to mention that you'll quickly hurt your arm that way. One full-impact hit while having your arm stretched and the arm could already be disabled due to an overbent elbow. Always, always land hits with your center, and even more always, always land it with an arm that's bend enough, to avoid injury at the elbows. Same goes for knees, btw, but kicking in swordfights's just asking for a prothese.

I'm not here to fight: practising sword i learned how much is stupid to combat...

But one day you two will taste the edge of my katana  mhwahahah...

Ok, ok, don't worry i'm just joking
You're right saying that katanas and tos are different, but i'm just saying that they are enough similiar to be used in the same way... and a ninja to cut very well: i can say this just looking at the cuts on my leg...

Anyway, Peace and Love, friends k:

A trick I use is weights on my arms and legs and I use a heavier practice blade. It builds up the muscles and power into my thrusts, jabs, and slashes. You will also be amazed at how quick (and deadly) you can be when you use the blade and no more weights.

It also works well for Baseball swings. k:

Sounds like Goku and Krillin's training under Master Roshi when they were small. They had to wear a giant turtleshield on their back, day and night, for a few months

I was just thinking about it today. But, anyway, without sparring, you couldn't achieve at least meduim results, I think.

Dragon Ball was a decent show, they didn't have uber constipation all the time LOL

Yeah, If you go from a heavy trained arms with a specifically two handed katana to a one handed ninja to, you will be slicing with ease and not even feel it

You'd be surprised how far you can push your skills with just a practice dummy.

Actually, you can learn precision a lot better practicing with a dummy than with a real person, which will make you better when actually sparring.
