Yes! Return Fire! Excellent, thank you!

The other game seems a bit like archon, perhaps a newer version or ripoff?
It's not that old, i think because it had more graphical wise than that oldie. :]

Dont remember much more than it gave you a certain number of points (or maybe you got to chose how much) that you could buy characters for, there were Water-men, Fire-men, mages and just huge red horn-monsters. You played it turned base in some sort of high-third-person point of view, in a chess way where you had one side and your opponent the other. When you reached an opponent the game switched to top-down view and you got to controll the monsters in a 1-on-1 with your controls, i think each had 2 attacks or something like that, i remember the water men being able to throw a piece of their arm or charge blindly forward. Sort of.

Thanks for the help guys; It's troublesome having small mental images of these old great games and not knowing the names.

Thanks again!
I'm going for Return Fire now!

I checked the Return Fire and found out that it was made by 3DO Interactive.

I think that company is ESA protected...

Where did you see that? Moby lists the following:
For 3DO: Prolific Publishing, Inc. & Silent Software
For PlayStation: Midway Games West, Inc. & Silent Software
For Windows: Williams Entertainment Inc. & Silent Software

While Midway is an ESA company, it is the Windows (PC) version that would matter to us. I think it is a safe bet to assume that Silent Software owns the copyright for this game. However, I am still a bit unsure about the game's status, as the second game is sold. Chances are that the first one is also sold somewhere.

The second one sounds vaguely like Battle Chess... But that could just be my memory playing tricks on me...

I found the 2nd game!

Dark Legions by SSI; apperently some sort of sequel to Archon.

Thanks a bunch, Mission complete. :]

The Wikipedia article doesn't say it was made by 3DO Interactive, but that it was made for the 3DO console.

It lists the exact same producers and publishers that Moby does. Remember that 3DO is both the name of a company, and a gaming console.

As for Dark Legions, that game is still sold.
