Popular as in what? Full Throttle didn't sell very well at all.
I also like stuff like the Longest Journery or Syberia, I hate anything like Myst or Lighthouse though, first person pixel hunters and annoying slider puzzles.

My favorite adventure game of all time is definatly Sanitarium.

The only adv games that I played are all horror,dark adventures :eeeeeh:
Blackstone Chronicles,5 days a stranger,7 days a skeptic,Sanatorium(only demo...) and some more...

"Sanitarium", "Dreamweb", "5 days a stranger" and "7 days a skeptic" are the only dark adventure games I've had the pleasure of playing.

Try to find Blackstone chronicles...It is very hard game,and unlike others is based on psychological terror.(you are in sanatorium of very MAD therapeut(and your father btw..) that is full of ghosts of pacients that DONT survive his attempts to "cure" them)

In Sanitarium you play a man with amnesia, he wakes up in a Sanitarium after having the brakes on his car slashed, where he falls of a cliff k: . You basicly take form of all the things he begins to remember, you play a chapter where you're his sister and you have to go through a circus stranded on a flooded island to kill a squid boy or such, or one where you play a four armed superhero, it's really wack.

But it's a good dark creepy game. One thing though, the storyline is so damn hard to understand.

"Beneath a Steel Sky" and "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream," though IHNMAIMS is stil for sale it quite well done and well worth what money you may spend on it.

*edit* Then again, I am a fan of I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream. Sanitarium is great and you can pick it up as shovelware now, so no need for a silly CD rip. If you like the AGS engine (I know I do) 5 Days, 7 Days, and Enclosure are all good.

Wish I could share your optimism, I am NOT pleased with the idea of some quarterstaffswinging Amazony April, but I guess we'll see.

I don't believe anyone mentioned shadow of memories, which I thought was pretty good, if rather short. If you want something dark microids make a lot which I think are rather creepy (for example Post Mortem and Jack the Ripper), and have a dark mood about them, but I'm not sure that's what you mean

I've been playing "I have no mouth and I must scream" and it's even darker than Sanitarium in my opinion. Geez the setting for the game is really scary.
