First see if increasing the cycles helps with the sound stutter.
Second, try using VDMSound instead.

I don't beleive it. I reinstalled the game, as I'd deleted it a while ago when I couldn't get the sound to work properly, and the sound is working fine. Provided I go into full screen mode, the sound is just like it was on my old adlib card.
Looks like I'll be busy recording for a while.
Thanx for your help the_fifth_horseman. k:

You don't need to loadhigh any of the game executables for it to work.
Where did you get your copy from? Sounds like it may be damaged.

Is there a manual for this anywhere? The interface confuses me greatly!

PC Laser Squad is the worst! Very bad interface. What I hate about 16bit versions is "intelligence", same as 8bit versions.
ZX version is the best, it's great there's a lot of new maps and absolutely super cool editor for it !

Just finished all the missions. It took me about 6 hours to do it - not much challenge playing against the computer. But then again, it was hot seat option why I liked this game so much when I first played it.

I remember C=64 version being much harder. In the mission with droids attacking the base, you were able to hit battle droid only from behind to cause damage, even if you used the cannon. That made them very hard to kill, since you had to sneak up on them, yet once you did, even a hit from a shotgun was enough. In the same mission on PC, all you need is four people with auto canons to guard main corridors and then you kill droidss on opportunity fire. AI is bad, so they'll just keep coming and often walk past the corridor where the last droid was killed (and your soldier used opportunity fire) to be killed by the next one.

Also, like Spectrum version, there were three extra missions on C=64.

But it was still fun playing this game. It made me wanna playe X-com, but I lost disk and it's still protected here

I liked this game so much I wrote a modern multi-player remake called Stellar Forces (http://www.stellarforces.com). It's completely free and so far I've recreated The Assassins, Moonbase Assault and Rescue from the Mines (as well as a few new missions).

I already played the fourth mission eight times. The last time I was smelling the victory, or at least near than ever, and a Cyber Droid got stuck with a door.

The first ones in 5/7 difficulty, the last ones in 4/7.
