If you want REAL, realistic, hard core to the MAX strategy games....you can't go wrong with TacOps 4. Tac Ops gets used by the Australian and American Military.

If turn based is you deal you could go with Steel Panthers: Main Battle Tank (SP:MBT) its like normal steel panthers, and still contains world war 2 scenarios, but then it stretched from 1945-2020, allowing historical scenarios set i nthe arab israeli conflicts, vietnam, Falklands, basically every war they had back in those days, and some hypothetical conflicts.

You could also get Armored Task Force, its a deep tactical game, but i've never been able to actually get aghold of it.

There was some game called Crisis in the Falklands or something like that, based on regimental and brigade control over days rather then turns, set during the Falklands war, but i've havn't played it either.

And of course theres always Close Comat, Combat Mission, Theater of war....basically anything by Battlefront, if your willing to spend a bit.

I'll just throw in these two titles: Sudden Strike 1+2 (no idea what SS3 is like). Real time, can issue orders while paused, no construction but capturing equipment instead, World War 2, the game allows you to play as you like: Use only a few chosen units for the task or go all out assault with all you've got.
