Just look at the operating systems now adays...you get asked like a million times if you're SURE you want to delete a file or do this or that. Don't go into program files...you could mess up your computer!!

Even in high school...everyone just used calculators all the time, drove me nuts...I was like damn it, use your brain. And I'm talking about simple math here.

When I put my textbooks up for sale at a used book store I was going to sell it for 40 bucks and the girl pulled out a calculator and was like okay you get 75% so that's....hold on...and she used the calculator........she had just mentioned she was in 4th year university. Just thinking about that makes me want to yell in anger at the world!! 30 bucks damn it...
It's the way society works these days ... people are using the technology to do the "thinking" for them. They also just accept what the press feeds them although most of it is at least partially incorrect ... It's a dangerous attitude, one where people stop relying on themselves but completely focus on other sources for information, opinions, etc.

What happens, is that you get the same symptoms all over the world: you strongly split people between different information sources. Because of how strong the media presence is today and the lack of criticism, media can create big divided communities which worked fine together before.

What the hell? The AI teammates in CoD actually do something!? All my life, I thought your AI buddies were just for show. In fact the only games I know where your AI buddies can do stuff without your help (except of course, when you're the squad leader) is Operation Flashpoint. More than once I've seen my AI teammates finish a mission without me firing a single shot.

Also, how the hell did a video showing the AI complete a mission turn into a argument about the dumbing-down of society?

Because the player doesn't have to do a damn thing. It's supposed to be a game, not a movie, remember?

Well the Player in the game could still have died in most parts, the player was crouching and hiding so that he wouldn't die. The AI is just programmed well enough that if the player does nothing they still act, unlike some games that feature your AI partners just sitting there and missing every shot until you do something. It's only a movie because the PLAYER made it one, if he had played the game then it wouldn't have seemed like a movie.

the video obviously shows that even if he "played it" he wouldn't have any problems finishing the level at all, because even if he did nothing, bots would kill everyone by themselves

and please what is a player supposed to do? not hide behind barriers before enemies? or you suggest that this is not an fps but fphs? as in (hide and seek)

Just pointing out that this kind of AI, the kind that can do without the player, is better then the AI that stands around like an idiot all the time. I think this is one of the worst games I have ever seen. But lets not forget, this is the first level of a game that is kinda all about large set battles and it's not the first game ever to be more movie then game. It's not the end of gaming nor the future....it's just one market of gaming.

On the note of ducking and hiding I have seen a lot of new FPS and Third person shooters that are all about the cover mechanic...and I hates them so much. Having cover in your game is cool, forcing the player to use it non stop or die is just stupid.

FPS games are for noobs anyway. (Joking...kinda)

like i said man, ai is cool, but they don't even die and have unlimited ammo

if something is immortal and has infinite ammo it's not much fun

Very true...and I hate that too. I have never liked AI characters in my FPS games...they always ruin it one way or another.

I always figured CoD was a lowest common denomiator sort of game anyway.
