It's not in the public domain, it's still owned by Bethesda.
Dibs on review!

I've played this game many times - even got the original box copy at home which is not cheap these days so I can provide scans as well.

I think they're wrong in recommending a huge installation, it just duplicates all files and doubles the used disc space. Since the CD is actually mounted from the real HD, a minimum installation won't run any slower AFAIK. The game can't be played without CD anyway even if you made a huge installation.

When applying the .213 patch, if you chose the minimum installation, the patch installs a 22 MB file from the (virtual) CD into the (virtual) HD, because it assumes that it wouldn't be able to patch a file in a CD-ROM. I don't think there's any problem in moving it back into the CD, but I haven't tested the result thoroughly.

Did you append the "-label Daggerfall" parameter to your mount command for the CD?

Don't start the game with dagger.exe, start it with fall.exe z.cfg (completely like written). Then it should work.

Ddddddaaaaagggggeeerrrrfffaaalll!!!!!

I know some people who would disagree, but I still think Daggerfall is the best (And buggiest) Elder Scrolls game.

I already bought it on Ebay, in a box with everything included, which I still hold up as my favourite purchase on Ebay, but I know some friends of mine who will be pleased with the news that it is free.

Trust Bethesda to release Daggerfall for free directly after I payed a load of money for it on Ebay. Gits.

Default Daggerfall - Buying Items

With all the recent buzz around here about Daggerfall, I decided to install my old copy and give it a go again for the first time since I bought it in '96. I applied the latest patch (2.13) or something like that.

Anyway, I was wondering how you buy items in this game. Everytime I make it to a store, regardless of what they deal in, I only get "Talk" or "Sell" option, never "BUY". Do I need a certain reputation or something? As a result I am hoarding crazy amounts of gold from all of my sales, but only equipped with what I've managed to scavenge off of dead bodies.

Any insights?
