BTW, isn't the game ready to run in dosbox? Do you really need to run install? I forgot, and to lazy as usual to check.

I was never able to run the Abandonia version of Ignition in DOSBox.

Running MAINDOS.EXE used to bring up a lack screen with "LADDAR" in yellow font, but now it just brings up a black screen. Running DOS4GW.EXE just brings up the DOS prompt with some error messages with "DOS/4GW fatal error".

Test 1...2...3... and:

AB's game works fine in dosbox 0.73, default install.

Simply mount your CD drive as D:\ in dosbox with whatever CD in it and run the game with
maindos
from the game directory.
No probs here......

It apparently won't run if you don't mount a CD .....

Forgot to mention:
The dosversion (didn't test the Win version) is indeed ready to run in dosbox, no install needed. Sound and all are fine.

Hi, I use a virtualized XP to run this game in Linux, and with some distribution it runs ok (on other ones it's slow and not fluid)

However, I'd like to play it with Wine or DOSbox... Both fail I successfully managed to install it both in wine and in dosbox (yeah, different versions) but on Wine it crashes too often (perfect emulation, but there is no chance to finish a championship) and in DOSbox it's damn slow (too slow to be played) and buggy. Anyone was able to run it on Linux outside a Virtual Machine?

Also, the Abandonia version fails to install on DOSbox: it seems that it misses a file (IGN_DOS.BAT). In my virtualized XP it runs perfectly: I can play it for months before it crashes (although I'm going to try it in a virtualized Win98 for performance reason on Ubuntu - now I have to dualboot with Slackware)

Also, on virtualized XP there's no way to play on LAN: crash!!! That's one reason why I'm going to try it on 98...

What do you mean? I'm asking other Linux users how do they play Ignition, and also writing down my issues so that other users can take advantage from it.

Dosbox has a port for linux. If you're having trouble, perhaps report it on their forum?
