We had to use snag it for one of my classes, as we needed to make about 30-50 screen captures per project (show progress), and this tool was easiest to select region, copy needed selected windows, or whole screen with different outputs (clipboard, to file, to snag it studio...).

It is nice program that recently we are using to make movie files from the movement on desktop (like training video).

I don't see what's wrong with Ctrl + Print Screen and Paint.

There is nothing wrong with it.

It is just that this newer generation of data-geeks all believe that Paint sucks. When in fact Paint is one of the better programs out there. k:

Print screen captures the whole screen, but alt+print screen only captures tha active window (if it is running in a window).
At least it works that way for me.

It's a lot of work, when you need a lot pictures, and you don't like to stop with what are you doing. For example, attached screen shot took me couple off seconds (press ctrl + shift + P, select region, name save file), while it would take much more to do with pain(t).

To do it with paint, you have to capture this holding alt, , open paint and paste it to paint, crop edges, save file (change to jpg).

Again, it all depends on how often you need this feature.

Didn't know that I'll try it.

EDIT: You're right, this is a great discovery. k:
