I did get it running but the sounds are not really great.. I'm using PCLinuxOS 2009 and running DosBox 0.72.. I use the SILENT.BAT to run the game.. In my SILENT.BAT I wrote:
SS2 VGA IBM

If not mistaken the defaults from abandonia is:
SS2 VGA IBM 720

not really change alot of things to the game though.. the sounds still as bad as before..
well, maybe u need to make sure that all the files of the game not protected or root permission.. juz select all and right click, then click properties.. hope that would help.. [sorry if my english is not really good]
