Fact is, whoever is pulling the strings behind Abandonia now, they don't seem to be giving a **** about making it a better place for everyone to visit.
The work is done here as far as I can tell mostly only by Fifth Horseman and some of the moderators who are still visiting here, and the updaters, but there has been only little improvement in the current layout of the site which would probably require someone with more direct access to the site.

You're right about that part, Scatty.
Unfortunately, Kosta is pretty much our only real contact with Studentis, and he's been away for some time.

I have to honestly say that I left because the forum became so overwhelmingly unpleasant to use.

I don't mind how Abandonia changes as long as it dosen't become one of those places where you need an account to download games. There are too many websites like this, and guests come to get games, not spend the next fifteen minutes making an account just so they can download Wasteland, or something.

But I can't say I like the new layout, but switching to vBulletin was a good idea, its very good forum software. Maybe if we give the new design a chance, things will get better.

i dunno, maybe it's the fact that it's not done yet, but in the invision power boards at least "topic read" worked. here i have to dip in to the forum and refresh gazzilion times to mark it really read (unless i click mark forum as read by myself, but then i don't know what have i read or not). and then when i come back, it's unmarked again D: it's just uncomfortable

That claim is overexagurated. It's not that nobody gives a **** about making the site better. People do care, but there are things that have been different in the past.

Studentis group is not really a part of the abandonware scene and they are "our technical support". This means that they probably see us just as one of the customers in line and not as a pet hobby project they'd like to work on 24/7. And Kosta is more or less the only link to them (although there is the aaa_admin, but there was never a sense of personal conection to that person). So things are progressing much slower then eager user would like them to progress.

Oh and I guess most people got busier with their real lives (I see on my own example - I'm posting/spaming much less then what I used to, due to personal problems I'm in at the moment), I know Kosta used to live at home and was at a faculty that wasn't too demanding, living in the comfort of his home - in the haydays of Abandonia, now he does have many other worries and Abandonia was forced of the top spot on his priority list. I bet you've seen things like that happen before, you've been around here long enough and in high enough circles...

Sure I've seen things like that happen before, but never before was Abandonia left almost completely by the admins in the hands of the community like that. There was earlier always someone who had control and time to listen, or so it seems. Who do we have now? Kosta is busy, Studentis is busy too, and Fifth is the only admin who's actually present on the forum, all others can't be seen at all anymore.

Well, unless the Fifthy feels he needs more admins at his side I'd say it's a good idea not to have too many people in charge... I could give you examples of what came from that.

Hardly. Titan and Data are still around, they just don't advertise it much.

Generally, all nominations for new admins are handled by Kosta. He's the only one who can grant them the access permissions anyway.

I know, but if there would be a desperate need for more admins... I mean if you felt you couldn't do it all and the site was going to fall apart if Kosta doesn't promote some new admins... Something like that... Untill that happens, things seem to be quite good. There are some mods around though - aren't there?
