I honnestly see no reason to dual boot Vista-XP for a dosgame.
Dosbox 0.72 works perfect in Vista (32-64bit).

Ok, I tried all three with those settings and still nothing... Any other ideas?
Sounds like a very strange error indeed. I'm playing the game "flawless" on vista as we speak. Just downloaded it (DOS version) extracted to (a directory of your choice) UFO and started the game by running ufocd.bat on dosbox. Game works like a charm, no need for any setup concerning sound.

Maybe an older version of DosBox will do the trick... Though, I'm using version 0.72 on vista without any problem. Haven't managed to check UFO. But I'm pretty sure it works just fine. Strange problem...
