Does anyone know what stats control how much one can cast? I've gotten a few characters up to yellow rankings on the magic skills, but the character still goes delirious most of the time from 2+ element spells (especially self-spells like the healing ones).

and yeah: 2.5? ...vielleicht grosse idioten!

It takes some acclimation, but Aleshar ranks up there with Darklands.

In my opinion Aleshar doesn't even come close to Darklands. I didn't give it much of a chance though and got tired of trying to figure out how to do just about anything in it, but I think I'll give it another try just to see if with some patience it's as good as you say.

Anyone know why your character ( Not using magic at this point. ) gets nauseated or shakes with vertigo? I find that my character gets ill or convulses at the most inopportune moment. (Next to a giant.)

Yeah, this game uses qualitative descriptions of your (and your oppenents) stamina... as well as qualitative descriptions of your "Hit Points" data, rather than quantitative... like most rpgs. It's pretty unique like that. So when this happens (shaking, nauseated) it means you're running out of gas... and it's time to run away and REST up a bit... "catch your breath" a few squares away. Rely on the crzy Finns to always come up with something weird... but cool.

I've just put the game on hold for a while and have forgotten the end-plot... all the good walkthroughs have been absconded with... anyone know the gist out there?

CHEERS,

Lo-key

Default Interesting discovery

Admittedly, I didn't bother checking if any one else tried this, but when setting your sound options in the install, if you put the quality to 44 KHz, it fixes the choppy sound. The game's music is nothing short of brilliant, so rest assured that half hour I spent figuring it out was well worth it.

Dominic, could you give some more details
-did you run it in emulator (DOSbox or VMD) or on some old PC?
-what sound card did you choose in setup?
-can you describe your hardware configuration?

I totally agree that music is absolutely great.

Greetings to all,

At the moment I am in Snowhold. After talking with Fras Hilltop I waited for night to come and went to healer's quarters. When I approach to the northern wall I get a message saying 'you spot a secret door nearby', so I try to open the door by pressing the 'o' key, but nothing happens. How do you open secret door in Aleshar? Any help would be appreciated...
