Ok, the name sucks but its what its called until I come up with something better. Its an old school RPG that I'm making mostly text driven with simple graphics. If I have got the stomach to see this through then hopefully when it finished it will play a bit like Ultima underworld with lots of puzzles and secrets. Still early days yet but heres a couple of screenies of what I got so far:

Looks very cool. The storyline is just what I like (at least from what I saw in the first screenshot). k:

Thanks Abi
I'm making good progress with this at the moment. Got a load of new graphics for tiles and items, started on the item lists, and the inventory system is pretty much all up and running now. |

Nifty. Is this pretty much a free-play style game like NetHack and Rogue or will there be a distinct storyline involved?

Thanks, the games going to have a story, but its no really going to be plot heavy. Mostly the text is just to add a description to encounters, etc.
I am mostly focusing on creating an interactive environment with lots of puzzles, secrets, that kind of stuff. I'll be making it so that different puzzles/encounters can have multiple solutions, or other ways around them. To stop the player getting stuck And i want to put in lots of different side routes with special items and stuff. I only plan to put in a handful of NPCs, but I will try and make the conversations reasonably in-depth. I'll also whack in some random generated items tables, so that you get different stuff each game, but about half of the stuff will be preset. If anyones interested theres a downloadable version of what I got so far here. Don't expect much its not what you could call a game yet, but it should give you an idea of how the game plays. Keys for actions are: L : look : gives a description of what you click on. Shows items on tables and other open containers. O: open : use to bring up the inventory of objects like chests, bookshelves etc D: drop : drop an item on the floor, or on an object U: use : use stuff like keys on locked doors. E: eat : eat food and stuff The map is just an example and there are no enemies or combat yet. If anyone has any feedback or ideas for the game then let us know. Cheers. |
