...simulating what exactly? I mean, aside from the use of a throdle instead of a "forward" key, this game has about as much resembalnce to a flight simulator as Pac-Man.

It's more like a FPS because no flight simulator has you navigating such claustrophobic spaces in a ship that you don't need to worry about fuel, air speed, or for that matter ANY property of the physical world that one might "simulate" in a "simulator." In this game, when you move up, you move up. When you move down, you move down. And when you stop you stop cold. Physics be d*mned.

And, of course, it's an FPP game where you shoot everything that moves, occasionally solving a puzzle or two - which happens to be the most compact definition of FPS genre.

Actually it was very Revolutionary. It improved upon the graphics of Doom and Wolfenstein.

Eg. You could shoot lit objects and the walls would actually light up.

Ok game but not so revolutionary. Not that kind of game that I like to play after years..

This was and still is one fabulous game! Actually i am collecting some retro dosgames-music and i have to tell you: The music from this game is awsome! For the best sound experience you can imagine, try using a real wavetable soundcard like soundblaster awe 32! The difference from the "normal soundblaster 16" midi sound is just incredible!

I once done a small hack to the .ini

Normally you have 3 difficulty settings (or 5 don't remember). But if you give higher value(s) in the .ini you get some freaky AI Behaviour. Such as AI's moving instantly in front of you only to hover and look at you till you continue moving. Weird stuff.

How should i go about getting the game controlling to detect my paddel (USB) for Xp? A Patch? A controller program? Or changing settings in xp or file?

I guess if DosBox supports it you can set it as some kind of similar controller in Descent.

I`m not fond of 3D-shooters, but THIS game is the only one of this genre that I consider GREAT! It`s full 3D enviroment and it`s puzzling corridors... It`s really amazing!
I`ve completed Descent-2 and struck in Descent-1. That`s tough!

PS: A good joystick is STRONGLY recomended for this game! (especially to slide using the HAT.)
