You could try removing everything but the proc (disconnect drives, remove PCI-cards, remove video-card, memory etc.) . Boot the thing. If the BIOS doesn't start to bleep (the beep codes should be in your mobo manual), either your mobo or proc is busted. Then, add the memory. The beep-code should change. If nothing happens, your memory could be dead. Go on adding one device at a time.

Ok, I'll give this a go. BUT: Since I know very little of how a computer works, I need a pretty detailed description of which devices should be removed and which should not be removed. Also, I need the same description on the sequence I'm supposed to add the devices. Furthermore, please tell me what I should be looking for doing this. In short, could someone hold my hand through this *shaking violently* ?

Last, I take it the mobo manual is downloadable? (Since I don't have it, I mean)

Yep, the manual _should_ be downloadable.

As for the sequence... well, IMO the best idea here is to strip down the entire configuration, put in a working PCI graphics card (you know, something like 1-MB is enough for testing purposes) and the RAM. Start from there.

Just for the record: Today I took the pc for a walk, and then it (apparently) worked again. PCs, you can't live with them, you can't live without them and there's no way in Helvetia that you can figure them out.

so you took it for a walk....

well, either something inside was bumped back into place or when you reattached all the cables, something was loose and now is making proper contact
