Here's some constructive criticism for you pig*meep*er and donutpuncher and all the other 14 year old ringworms who consistently slag my reviews off..

I can't be bothered contributing to this site anymore, I have done my best to contribute and quite frankly as I can get paid for writing reviews, and have been for the past ten years, I don't much give a muck what you think. I've gone into too much detail? Jeze sorry if your attention deficit disorder can't manage five minutes. I also quite clearly mention that this is by the same person who wrote Xcom you blind *meep*!

Do you think nobody looks at your pathetic gamemaker attempts and feels like taking the piss out of you? But we don't, because generally people are a bit more polite. Honestly, it's just a joke I've seen first attempts that have a better interface / playability than the drek that you kiddies spend your time discussing. Post it up on the game design forums and see how many people gather around you trying to jerk you off and bathe in your glory, you might actually learn something too.

There's no point contibuting to the net anymore and this site especially because retarded comments follow anything anyone tries to do. I'm not just talking about my own reviews, but generally.

When you leave home and enter the big wide world I think you'll want to adust your attitudes sharply otherwise someone is going to knock some sense into you. If you see any other posts or reviews by me you'll find they were submitted before this post, I've had it with this site - there's plenty of places where being able to write and contribute is welcomed rather than bitched about by a bunch of twats. And for the record Punch, I can see why you removed your profile pic you have the appearance of a jolly cored rectum.

Sincerly, *meep* yourselves - yourself especially piggy, if you are so upset about not having VIP status write something sensible instead of whining about other people getting it. Have mine in fact, I won't be back.

Hm. I always liked Rebelstar games better than Laser Squad. The missions had a larger scale and they were more diverse. Laser Squad always felt somehow limited when compared to those.

PayBackTime 2 is a worthy freeware clone, by the way. Very fun with a friend.

I don't see how is this review too elaborate. My two reviews were terribly stretched out and didn't get so criticized.

Of course everybody going to have a different opinion about games they play. But you should not let yourself get in an uproar when one disagrees. I personally love Laser Squad even if it comes from the DOS vault. How can you expect Laser Squad to compete with games that are being produced today and also in a different generation. I still have all my DOS games which I probably have a thousand or two.(I started when I was young.) When I saw this game it brought back memories of the old DOS days. I hope guest_Strangeglove come back for I understood where he was coming from.

Anyone else have the problem with the EXE?
I've been playing it fine for a long while now, and for some reason it just crashes now.

It's a matter of pace and effectiveness, to keep attention and quality while the reader is looking for input, and not excessive writing.
Since when is five paragraphs excessive writing? I see nothing wrong with this review. However, the game itself seems to lack a lot. I'm a huge fan of the Xcom and Jagged Alliance series. LS simply doesn't stand the test of time, or hold up much at all to these classics. Not that it's necessarily suppose to, but I think in most ways its been rendered obsolete. Only 5 maps with few tactical options doesn't help. I like the midi music though, and some of the pre-battlefield graphics are interesting.

I'd give it a 3.

I'm suprised no one in this forum knows that laser squad is a little older than 1992: i played it in a spectrum around 1988/89!

I personally didn't like the game, but I loved all the music.
When the Laser Squad was first released I went out and bought the game. I was a tad disappointed with the game play (not my cup of tea), and cursed myself for buying it. But then I listend closely to the music, I loved it. I liked the music that much, I hooked up my cassette deck to my sound card and recorded a couple of hours of pretty much repetitive music.
For months I'd listen to the music through my car sound system. That was until I got agro at another motorist one day, I threw the tape at his car in frustration without thinking. Oh well, I'll just make another cassette of it. Unfortunately disk 2 of my original had unrecoverable read errors, so I couldn't re-install it. Also, stupid me never thought to backup my originals. Why bother I originally thought, especially since I didn't really like the game, plus I'd already taped the music. :wallbash:
I had the game for more than 6 months when I got the disk read errors, so I couldn't really send disk 2 back under warranty. A tad too late. But then again I wasn't too upset about it, so I let it all slide. I ended up throwing the game out about 8 years ago. No great loss I thought.
But recently I was able to get a copy from the net, so I decided to install it onto DOS Box. Unfortunately the music stutters and sounds a bit off. Doesn't really sound anything like the sound I used to get out of my old adlib card.
A friend told me there's supposed to be something in XP you can change to fix this problem. Does anyone know how???
Any help with the above would be most appreciated.
Thanx in advance.
Regards,
DarkMatter
