They never could capture the exact essence of the games as your not incontrol of the characters. That said the films have zombies in, what more can you ask for? k:

Well, they caught the essence of my Resident Evil experience: Because i wasn't in control of my character for most of the time. The films would certainly have suffered if they consisted of Milla Jovovich running into the wall beside a door for an hour and a half.

Gotta agree about the zombies though. Zombies are becoming more and more dangerous with every film. I mean, "Resident Evil", "Twenty-One Days Later" and "Dawn of the Dead" - what was wrong with shuffling slowly!?!

I know movies can't capture the exact essence of the games but I was expecting something more than an average action movie

look at the bright side
at least Uwe Boll isn't attatched this
this dosn't go without saying I don't like anderson
but he dosn't screw up a game as much as Boll does

Personally I hated the second movie. I'm not a huge fan of the series (I'm more of a Silent Hill type of girl :P) but I've played most of the series so I decided to check both movies out. The first one wasn't toobad simply because it just took place in the Resident Evil universe and we didn't have to deal with any game characters getting ruined. Then of course two comes out and it's absolutely horrid.

Plenty of folks that like the game say he's paying homage to parts of it by basically redoing parts of the games and sticking Alice in them, but I like to call it ripping them off/destroying it. I also don't think Alice could've possibly been any more annoying (plus making her like Alexia, except far less cool, is just annoying because Code Veronica is my second favorite of the series (despite Steve...)).

Well, I'll certainly bow to the "Silent Hill" argument - it's survival horror at its best, loved the games (except for the beginning of the 2nd one where you have to run for half an hour before anything remotedly interesting happens - what was that about?). The film is apparantly underway:

The story is written by Roger Avary ("Killing Zoe"), and will be directed by Christophe Gans ("Brotherhood of the Wolf").

I'd also like to see a film of "Parasite Eve".

I would love a Parasite Eve movie as well. Technically there's one but it explains the Japanese incident that is brought up throughout the game. If we can't get a movie then an upgraded version would be fine with me because personally I think PE (not so much the second one though it was still a blast) might have been one of Squaresoft's best titles.

Thanks for the info on the Silent Hill movie.

Know I'm straying slightly here, but I was totally unaware there WAS a Parasite Eve movie! Knew about the book, of course, but it never occured to me there might already be a film. Cheers very much for enlightening me on that one, Calamity.

Think I'll just be getting myself a copy of that. I love this site. I really really do. :tnx:
