Old games had one great feature - when you were playing them, you felt great. In that times all was in new - remember, when you first saw Doom, then Fallout. And earlier.
I mean, today we get usual to games, so we don't feel surprised, when we see a new game. And I think we never will taste that feelings again. It's a bit sad. Even replaying games won't help (BTW, that even true to any games).
