Default WinSPMBT

Windows Steel Panthers Main Battle Tank is a free, hex based, turn based realistic strategy game, made by the Camo Workshop. Like Steel Panthers, it is about war. Unlike Steel panthers though, it is not about World War 2. The play years are 1946-2020, meanign theres a wide variety of historical scenarios from things like the Falk Lands, Vietnam, Angola, all that stuff, but can also have 'what if' scenarios.

The best thing about this game though is the ability to make your own scenarios albeit it is kinda tricky, you slowly get better...i myself am working on fictional company-based fights over large area's in A-Stan, set in 2013, following 3rd company, 2nd Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry. I made one scenario so far...and thats it!

Play it too! You might even like it...

Link to the free version. Or you could buy the "enchanced version" which isn't really worth it at all

I played both MBT and WW2 and I have to admit: For tbs these games are probably the best (and most complex) I've ever played. Really worth it if you're not too _modern_ () for turn based strategy

If only i knew how to make squads with mines put the mine on the road though

Then i'd set up an ambush, hoping armour would come by it, armour go'es "boom" and i open up on anything else! yay!

IIRC, you can't have your troops "mining" an area during the battles. There are two different kinds of mines in the game: The one you buy when you purchase/upgrade troops, and the mines carried by the soldiers. The bought mines are deployed at the deployment screen, and the other mines are used as close combat weapons automatically by the troops when a tank is in the same or a neighbouring hex.
