View Full Version : Another Looking For A Game Topic!
I played this game years and years ago, was a huge favorite of mine. I found it on a game disc(that had 2 cds in it) that my sister bought that had like 2000 games on it I think. Unfortunatly the disc's have vanished. I played it during the late 90's.
I believe it was just a demo, as I can't remember what the goal of it was or even any quests.
You lead a small band of characters around, fighting monsters. You can also go into the mines if you have torches and pickaxes and mine, the pickaxes break pretty often so you need backups when you mine. The mines are full of 'railroad' tracks for the carts to go on. You can buy horses, but if you ride them into town you can tie them to a hitching rail I believe. And I definalty remember if you take them inside the bank or the stores, you are put in jail for disobeying town rules.
Edit - Also in the mines, there was elevation changes. Monsters could be higher up than you or lower depending on the mining area you were standing on.
The graphics weren't top down, but were pretty nice in my opinion, 3d. Um, also the fighting was turn based I believe.
It's really hard to remember to much, been racking my brain for a while now trying to remember anything about it.
And I don't care if it ain't abandonware - I'll buy it.
So please help me guys.
Thanks, Erik.

Sounds hillarious (taking a horse in a bank) and sounds fun. I wish I have heard of this game and would be interested in buying it or dloading it too!

Hey I still have those 2 cds! Yes they were all demos and had some great games too!
Did it look like crystal cave graphics at all?
Do you remember which CD it was on? I could it up for you if you remember. I have too much spare time on my hands at the moment. :D
YES! Those 2 cds did have all demos on them. I want to say it was on the 2nd CD and there was no picture preview for the game.
The graphics didn't look like that, it was more 3d, not from a pure side POV or Top-down, but from an angle. You controlled four, maybe five guys I think.
BTW - What was the name of that cd set?
(You've no idea how thrilled I am to see your post!)

I too would like to remember the name of these CD's. There is a game on them, a tank shooting game like a top-down Scorched Earth, that I want to remember MORE THAN ANYTHING.

It seems that this topics became "name that 2 CD set" :D
Tell me, do you remember colour of the CD box, where the list of games were printed? Something between orange and brown perhaps???? Because if it is, i just might be able to find it.
I remember 2 CD like that (with colour i mentioned) and i loved Vikings: ultimate fight or something.... It had veeeery large map of Europe

Just give me some time to find the cd's in the "games from 10 years ago that I don't play anymore pile"....It's rather large and unorganized but I know it's in a pink case so that's a good sign.
Unfortunately, I never got them in a box, just a paper cover. The cd's were called "GAMES 2000!" and were silver with the name in pinkish orange and a list of a few games that were on them (I think.)
I wanted to say the cover was gold/black/brown or something. But I've no idea for sure.
It had a few games in it that I remember, like Blackthorne, Jazz Jackrabbit(I think), the first Settlers game - these are all demos btw.
If I remember any else I'll post them.
Isometric View, btw. Just figured that out. heh
Bumping the thread up - cause I've been looking forever now. ;p

Would the game you're looking for be comparable to an isometric RPG such as Nethack: Falcon's Eye (http://pc.mobygames.com/game/nethack-falcons-eye)?
Yes, it's similar but the graphics in Nethack are much nicer.
The game I've been looking for also has turn-based combat.
No! don't die thread!!!!!

he hey! Im pretty sure im wrong on this one but its worth a shot anyway. The game u described sounds pretty similar to the Exile Series(all time best rpg game ever and I highly reccomend everyone goes and buys it from Spidweb.com after the demos off course) Anyways im a big fan of Spidweb games and i know that after the exile series the guy made the avernum series, which is a 3d remake. I personally hate 3d so i nvr got into avernum, but anyhow i played the demo once, and basically u have 4 party members and its all turn based, so when u move the enemy moves, and in battle u take turns. its 3d isometric view, and since its a remake i know u can buy horses, and there are lots of underground caves and such, there are even certain mines in the third one to the east a bit. The bank thing with the horses, that didnt happen in exile, but i didnt go that far with avernum anyways, perhaps it does. and as u say late 90's demo cd, well i happen to have found exile on several so heck y not the avernum series as well. Oh damn, now i wanna play the exile series again. well anyhow even though this prolly aint the game, u really ought to check it out, the demos are pretty god damn awesome and let u go for a long time. Heck they're similar enough. Anyhow if u do figure out the game ur talkin of, which i do hope u do cuz id love to try it, tell me cuz i wanna see if its as good as the exile series.
http://www.spidweb.com <----- Try the Exile games they're great!
