Hi guys. I'm basically looking for a space game that I used to play. It was made 2000 or later, and had pretty good graphics for it's time. It was completely 2d, and you had to command a space ship, which you could upgrade, and kill pirates. The home ship was like a big blue square, and had turrets at the corners. Also, I remember that, when you docked into the home ship, you were met with screens of ship members, and all these members were anime. You could improve your own ship, the home ship, or weapons. And the grav beam used for mining was a blue smoky thing. Also, you could charge up weapons, making them spread or something. Really wanna play this game, please guys. :)

This is not a dos, or 16 bit game. It's got fair graphics for it's age. Does anyone know this? If so, leave a reply please. :)

I believe you are asking for StarScape (http://www.moonpod.com/English/about_ss.php).

Which won't become Abandonware anytime soon.

I seem to remember another anime themed indie SHMUP from the early 2000's that sounds very similar (and isn't Starscape, although you should buy it cheap on Steam, it's really good). It may have appeared on HOTU, but I don't recall the name. I believe it was released as freeware at the time.

I'll be looking around. Trying lists like these first: http://indygamer.blogspot.com/search/label/shmup2006

Edit: The game I'm thinking of is Idinaloq (http://www.hotud.org/component/content/article/43-action/22122), (Dev site) (http://www.namikaze.org/software/idinaloq/index_e.html). Probably not what you're thinking of, though. It's 3d.
