Hi,
I remember this old fantastic game I used to play back in the days. It was if I remember correctly a strategy game, but when you had armies fighting, they were actually fighting in real time. It was mostly archers and simple infantry, there might have been horses too. So the two armies would meet from left to right shooting arrows an moving infantry towards eachother.
I have been trying to find this game for so long, so I hope anyone can help. Maybe it's even here on the site.
Thanks in advance

North & South (http://www.abandonia.com/games/en/262/North&South.htm) comes to my mind.

Thanks so much for the quick reply, but alas, it is not it. The soldiers in the battlefield were much bigger on the screen, and it looked different. It's hard to explain. Maybe it was indians, or some sort of ancient warriors. I don't think there were guns.
I remember this one too though, and it's great, so thanks for that too.
How old is it? What were its graphics like? Ancient Art of War (http://www.abandonia.com/games/en/404/AncientArtofWar.htm)?

It actually looks like that one, gameplay wise, but the graphics were smoother I think. A bit better. Maybe it's a follow up?
There were two sequels (http://www.mobygames.com/game-group/ancient-art-of-war-series) but they're about naval and air warfare. Don't know. Really wild guess: Master of Magic.

Thanks, but no. One of those screens reminds me a little of it though. I hate that I can't recall it clearly. I think I am going to try this a little more, maybe it will be it later on.
I am really happy you are helping.

Another wild guess - could it be Siege (http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/siege)?

No. It's either Castle (http://www.abandonia.com/games/en/402/Castles.htm) or Castle 2 (http://www.abandonia.com/games/en/190/Castles2SiegeConquest.htm)... Both of those which can be found on Abandonia. :)
Anyways, from the description it would be my guess. Really sounds like Castle 2. :)

Maybe Fields of Glory?
The battles you describe also remind me of Centurion....

Ooooh this might be it! I will just get it and check.
My internet has been down for a while, so I haven't really checked this thread. Thanks to everybody who has chipped in, I really appreciate it.
Now let's see if it is it.
Edit: I'm afraid that's not the one either... I wish I could remember some more details.
