Hello to you all :)

I would like to ask you if anybody knows the title of and / or where to download this game. I played it years ago, but I cant remeber the title, I can only briefly describe the game.

>>You start off in a forrest if I remember.
>>In some parts you walk on clouds.
>>I think I remember something about a bridge or a well being guaded by a monster or something.
>>I think I remember that you could collect items.
>>I think some bits had a castle in.
>>You move across the screen

Thankyou for your help!

Sorry if it is a bit brief

Stu

Clouds, forest, castle, monsters... It could be Wonderboy.

I'm not sure, but could it be 'The Legend of Kyrandia'? Collecting fruits sounds a bit like it could be right that game. Maybe the second?

guesst

Super Mario Bros?

Stu007

much better graphics than wonderboy

The Legend of Kyrandia looks more like it, but i dont think it is it

DonCorleone

So it definately is an adventure game, isn't it? And it has better graphics than Wonder Boy...so the game might be from the early nineties!?

Please give some more information if you can since there are billions or even zillions (haha) games out there that would fit to at least one or two of your descriptions.
But if we're into adventure that's already a beginning. The year would be interesting and very important. That would increase the possibility to find the game...

Right yeah the game I guess is from the 90s, it came on a floppy disc.

I guess it is adventure, because you have to collect things, and you get given objectives.

One of the objectives was something to do with a monster guarding a well or a bridge or something.

One of the Commander Keen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commander_Keen_series) episodes? They were released in '90 & '91 and came on a floppy disc.

EDIT: The Keen Dreams episode (also known as the lost episode) begins in forest, and you get into a castle and in the sky too.

nope sorry

about the clouds

i think you jump off a castle to the left, onto clouds, which you can hop down on.

This reminds me Dizzy - you played an egg, but you did get to collect items and eventually kick some trolling butts off of bridges.

Kings Quest 1? It has a troll guarding a brigde, is an adventure, has some castles in it. For better graphics then Dizzy, you're probably interested in the VGA version:

Realms of Chaos was a fun game. My Duke Nukem 3D Complete Version CD had:

-Duke Nukem 1 Full
-Duke Nukem 2 Full
-Duke Nukem 3D Full
-Rise of the Triad
-Realms of Chaos
-Whacky Wheels

and a few more... I really want to find that cd!

Sheesh. Try to cough up some more details on the game, or people will just be firing wild shots trying to guess it out of the blue.

Otherwise, I give this thread a 48 hour pre-emptive warning before it is locked to avoid it becoming a spamfest or flamefest.

How did you play the game? Mouse, Keyboard, Joystick? Was it parser based? What gender was the main hero? Anything is helpful.

Top down, side scroller, adventure, RPG?

hm... by any chance was it one of those games that when you moved your mouse to the edge of the screen it turned a red arrow and you would go in that direction. I seem to remember some game like that with forests and clouds or something.

Stu007
11-08-2006, 01:37 PM
it was a side scroller definately (ie, play across the screen)

i think it was a keyboard controlled game

Tom Henrik
11-08-2006, 02:08 PM
Well, what were you?

Were you a guy? A woman? A car? A plane? A dragon? A tortilla? What?

I think i remember a similar game, but I don't have any additional information...

OK, so you're finally getting somwhere. Lock postponed... for now.

Stu007
12-08-2006, 12:35 PM
you played a guy I think

guesst
12-08-2006, 01:44 PM
So let's put it all together:

Side scroller definately. You play a guy, maybe.
Keyboard controlled, maybe
You start off in a forrest maybe.
In some parts you walk on clouds.
Something about a bridge or a well being guaded by a monster or something.
You maybe could collect items.
Maybe collect fruit.
Some bits had a castle in maybe.
VGA graphics.
from the 90s, it came on a floppy disc.
Legend of Kyrandia is the closest so far.

So, here's my guesses. Was it an actual side scroller or a 3rd person advernture like Kyrandia (http://www.abandonia.com/games/en/88/LegendofKyrandia.htm)? For the visual style like Kyrnadia but in a side scroller there's flashback (http://www.abandonia.com/games/en/74/Flashback.htm) or Prince of Persia (http://www.abandonia.com/games/en/10/PrinceofPersia.htm) or Another World (http://www.abandonia.com/games/en/30/AnotherWorld.htm). Anything in the neighborhood?
For content, (although I don't remember a monster on a bridge, but know knows) is the Captan (http://www.abandonia.com/games/en/857/AdventuresofCaptainComic.htm) Comic (http://www.abandonia.com/games/en/861/CaptainComicII:FracturedReality.htm) series close?

That's all I've got for now.

Stu007
12-08-2006, 03:07 PM
nope none of them, just dont base it too closely on legend of kyrandia or it might stroll off a bit

This is getting kinda hard.

Tom Henrik

I still say King's Quest 1 or 2. They have VGA remakes, and all of the above criterias.

Yeah, honestly, 3 pages and this has gone nowhere. I'm kinda getting tired of all this. We should just let this thread die.

tell me, the guy you was playng for was a knight in an iron armor?

btw i dont think that closing this thread would be.. reasonable?

Me neither. What possible purpose would that serve?

May be Simon the Sorcerer? It sounds similar at least.

What possible purpose would that serve? [/b]
Guesst has hit the problem dead in the center:
Yeah, honestly, 3 pages and this has gone nowhere.[/b]

And I am most concerned that the longer this thread stays open the more likely it is to turn into a spamfest or flamefest (when people just get furious at the starter), both of which I'd - naturally - prefer to avoid.

This thread was already borderline when it started, and later posts didn't help with the situation - the dude doesn't really have almost any idea what he is asking about in the first place.

Tom Henrik
16-08-2006, 10:49 PM
Then it will be closed when and if it turns into a spam and or flame-fest. Not before. And if people don't know the game, then they just don't reply, and the topic will dwindle off on its own.

We can't close topics pre-emtively and say "Well, it might have turned into flame at page 56. So we closed it."

How about World of Xeen / Clouds of Xeen (http://www.abandonia.com/games/482/WorldOfXeen/WorldOfXeen.htm) ?
This is an RPG, not an adventure. It fits the description pretty much, and it has the "walking on clouds" thing.

It wasn't 'Shadow of The beast' 1 or 2 was it?

Or maybe zool?

Seems like one of Quest for Glory games. Fruit you buy to retrieve energy, lots of monsters to kill, lots of bridges, wells, blah blah blah...

Well, its just a guess. :-)

hello sorry I havnt replied for a while, I have been on holiday.

I know your going to be annoyed to hear it, but I dont think its any of these suggestions either *embarassed*

If you want, you could just give up, it really isnt that important, I dont want people thinking I'm just some crazy guy who made it up though hehe.

So I guess sorry for not being too specific, and thankyou all for trying your hardest. :)

I think the main question is: do you have a definite memory of the game that you would recognize if you see it, or is this just a half-remembered wisp that we could guess forever on?

It's not a perfect fit, but look at a game called Xargon. It was one of the first graphic games I ever played and that would have been around '94-95. There were 3 parts, the first of which was shareware. Your character was a guy and it was a side-scroller, but there was some vertical movement. You collect fruit, walk on clouds, etc. Still is one of my favorite games. Does anyone have the second or third parts that they could put up here?

Sounds like Simon the Sorcerer 1 or 2?

(Then again, the first post could be about Super Mario just as well..)
