The two Faery Tale Adventures were made as tutorials for new and upcoming RPG-players. The first game was ported to the PC after achieving a huge success on the Amiga console. However, something went wrong in the rewriting of the program. The action bar jumps around from time to time, which can be annoying at first, but after you have played the game for about 10 minutes you forget that it is even there.
As I said, the game is intended for newbie RPG'ers, but it features incredible gameplay and a huge world that will draw even the most hardcore RPG player into the game. After all, this is one of the best Amiga games ever to be ported to the PC.
The game features the three brothers - Julian, Phillip and Kevin - who are thrown into one quest after another. Each of them possesses certain traits that will help you accomplish the different tasks you are given. Since it is an introductory RPG, everything is made as easy as possible, especially the controls. You play the game with a combination of both mouse and keyboard. To attack you simply hold down 0 (numpad) or the right mouse button and move in the direction you want to attack. Some of you might fear that there is no real challenge in the game, but I can assure you that it will not be a gentle stroll through the park. Some of the monsters can be very difficult to beat, so you might end up dying all over the place. (If you die a little blue faery will ressurrect you every time, no potion needed). A good tip would be to explore the city of Tambry to its fullest before you venture outside the city walls.
The first quest will be given to you by the mayor of Julian's hometown. Julian must locate a magic talisman, for only the talisman can save his city from the forces of the night.
This game is recommended for everyone, due to gameplay that must be experienced to be believed. Also I would recommend it to everyone who has the sequel, and wants to know how the series started. And lastly, I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good game!
